I found something :)

If it helps any, pictures from that era often included small captions with the date they were developed...sometimes on the front, sometimes on the back...

^Perhaps you have pictures from three trips then? Because the aerial of Adventure Village is definitely 1994.

And I'd like to see any other pics you have from Kings Island :)

Quite possible, just weird it would be in my 95/96 album....I don't even have any from 94 or earlier, those would be with my parents. I'm scanning some now...I also found an old pic of Cincy....and I'm gonna give you all a pop quiz. Name that park :) Gimme a few.

The 95 pics were developed at Winn Dixie, who did not do the time stamp on the back. The Kodak developed pics are dated 1996 though.

My parents often saved up for quite some time, or forgot the pictures were still in the camera, before developing. Still, it is a safe bet the pictures are not from after the date they were developed! :)

That reminds me of how our parents gave my sister and I their trading stamps and then let us decide what we wanted to do with them. We didn't have a lot of money back then, but our decision was always 4 KI tickets, for one trip a year!

Trust me, I'm itching to get into my parents photo stash, but that ain't happening anytime soon lol. Around 1995, they bought me my own camera, so that is the ONLY reason these pics are in my possession ;)

My mom LOVED to take pictures...it was just the developing that she never kept up on. I was still finding 110 film cartridges a couple of years ago that she never got around to "turning in".

(Note: You can wait too long to attempt to develop photos. :( )

PCC, thank you for the wonderful photos. I love them. 95 was the first year I went to Kings Island. I'm wagering that your second set of photos are from SFKK?

In that video RZ posted, its amazing to see how much that area changed once it became Action Zone. It would've been quite a sight to take a ride on Skyflyer (or Drop Zone as it was known before 99) in those days and then again in 1999 when everything changed.

B) You got it. My first and only trip there.

And the irony there in the concept of this thread is Action Zone became such all because Kentucky Kingdom was flagged, getting a lot of investment at the time. Kings Island's incredible response, a $35 million investment over two years, almost certainly caused Gary Story to move his battle against a nationally known park (and to get publicity) to Geauga Lake, renamed Six Flags Ohio, then Six Flags Worlds of Adventure. Oddly, many of the factors that constrained the future at Six Flags Ohio (poor layout, overexpansion, too much of an emphasis on rides, underdeveloping the rest of the park due to the overemphasis on rides, too little management, etc., would also have dogged a greatly expanded Kentucky Kingdom, and even did to an extent)
