Kentucky Kingdom

They do have the "Fun Under Construction" signs on this fence.  It would seem logical this would be the next area to renovate.  I'd also think some waterpark improvements are due, and maybe something done with a flat or two on the entrance side of the park.

Yesterday while I was outside of the fence the site leader from RMC came out and gave us stickers and talked about the industry. That really made my day! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G928A using Tapatalk

  • Back to the topic at hand... I got sneaky and took some pics while at the Fairgrounds this weekend... Enjoy!

  • Guys I received a large surprise from the Kingdom today. I learned I was being promoted to be in charge of the operation of the Thunder Zone. Apparently I have really impressed in the last few months

If the Kingdom decided not to ressurrect the Dragsters for 2017, I feel that a Sky Rocket coaster (see Tempesto at BGW and Superman at SFDK) would be amazing there. Something like that would defentely make me want to return for 2017. Then again, so would T3, Cyclos, and getting a chance to ride their older body slides...

EDIT: As for new features, I could see a VR'd Storm Chaser or maybe a small spinning figure 8 coaster.

I don't think we would see a Skyrocket ll in that location because (correct me if I'm wrong) they are around 150ft. However it could be downsized but I think that the max height limit in that area is around 100ft.

Or maybe they could pull an Alton Towers and dig down a bit for some of their attractions!

^ Infinity coaster confirmed. (Only kidding)

Not only do I think that Ed Hart isn't that smart, but I imagine the fair board would throw a fit over that notion.

I am someone who doesn't have a problem stepping up and admitting when I am wrong about something, and this seems to be one of those cases.  I genuinely didnt think that KK would make it more than one season under Hart, simply because I felt he was setting it up for a quick flip.  Now, while that may still possibly be the case in the short term, I am impressed and happy for those who enjoy the park, that the attendance figures were as high as they were and a third season looks to be around the corner.

^Agreed.  I'm starting to come around as well.  If they would just find a better way to solve the cthulhu bridge and spruce up the area around Storm Chaser, they'd have a pretty solid park.

They opened up a grade crossing near Enterprise.  That avoids having to use the bridge entirely.  Also, the area near Storm Chaser--I'd expect to see development as this is one of the last parts of the old SIX part that was left undeveloped since the park reopened in 2014.

Oh, and letting Terpy back in would be nice as well. ;)

Maybe it's because I'm young, but I don't get this whole bridge thing being a big deal. I'd much rather walk that bridge a few times vs walking to and from Thunderbird one time. On that path you have steep elevation changes along with a considerable distance.

I don't mind the bridge, but it is just quicker to be able to cross near Enterprise if you aren't doing the water park.

I'm also thinking in terms of the GP.  The bridge has steep ramps on the entrance side and requires a lot of circling around on the water park side.

They probably would, just a suggestion. :)

Was sort of half suggesting. :D

I am as well fairly surprised at how good their attendance was.... I was expecting more of the same this year but a 200,000 increase, wow!

Hopefully this means that KK's Future is becoming brighter and brighter.

At least it will for sure be around next year, where I can FINALLY visit the park I have been looking at since Bluegrass Boardwalk was a thing.

Okay, so this is an absolutely ridiculous pipe dream but Liseberg is removing Kanonen, a great little Intamin accelerator, for their 2018 dive coaster. It has a super tight layout and would fit Kentucky Kingdom. Obviously shipping a coaster from Europe is absolutely ridiculous but I would love to have an Intamin Accelerator within 2 hours of me.

really more of a teaser than an announcement but I am curious to see what is actually coming. I think they have made some pretty smart ride choices the past few years.

I do believe they are at the part of their plans that they initially projected where spending per year goes way down, so I wouldn't expect a lot of big things in the immediate future.  In my opinion, the main section of the park is fine (like the entrance side of the park and the area immediately surrounding the water park).  I think they should focus on sprucing up the area back by Storm Chaser soon, get the crowds spread just a little more.

The hinted at a Thrill ride as well. At least from their post, it seems as though spending will not go down to virtually nothing just yet.

I wonder if we are going to get a midnight announcement tonight? That's kind of their thing, right?

More like a 12pm announcement :D

"last year we gave you Storm Chaser, finalist for best new ride in the world, now wait till you see our new Larson Loop!"

I'm honestly happy about this addition. We're not going to get a coaster every year. And I like Fireballs so I'm glad to get one close. Heck, we got a great RMC last/this year!

An RMC conversion and a Larson Loop in back-to-back years?! Looks like SFKK is back, at least in spirit!

It's not going were Enterprise is ,they confirmed it in a Facebook comment they are also not calling the Larson a coaster. And an extra 500k+ will be spent on a new train (replacing the old one) and track work!

7 stories? Are Larson Loops normally around 70ft tall?

And so what's happening to Thunder Runs track, I wonder
