new flat ride location?

Featured Replies

The problem with the flat rides you guys have been suggesting is exactly this -

They're outdated and too "carnival" like. I would love to have them, but I bet Cedar Fair is thinking of a newer decade of thrills, instead of a fun family ride.

At least that's my opinion.

At this point in its financial life, I suspect FUN is looking for "cheap and cheerful" and "bang for the buck" more than a new decade of thrills. Would the old Cedar Fair have moved Demon Drop to Dorney Park? I doubt it...

If Cedar Fair closes California's great America Kings Island should get the flying eagles and put it in Coney Island and their Enterprise for X-Base.

Their Flying Eagles are apparently not the same as the ones KI used to have.

I believe their Eagles ride is an 8 tub version (one that I believe was installed around 2001). From what I`ve heard the newer models just aren`t the same as the old models. (The one that ran at Coney and KI and now resides at Carowinds is 70 years old this year).

Carnival type rides? Well, several of these flat rides being discusses once operated at Kings Island. And to point out another fact, Disney World`s Animal Kingdom has an entire area themed entirely to a carnival.

Just imagine an addition of a Flying Eagles ride, Ferris Wheel and another flat or two. It would certain revitalize Coney Mall. And in my opinion, the far end of Coney Mall has needed some revitalization. While again not great at capacity, they could even install a wild mouse coaster. They are a lot cheaper than mega coasters, are marketable, and still fun and appeal to a larger demographic than some of today`s mega thrill rides.

Not true, not all of the parks daily population is interested in riding coasters. Bring on the flats. It brings choice to the day. What are these type parks about? family!

Carnival rides? Carnival rides?

Some of the best and most intense rides Terp ever rode were carnival rides...most of which would not be allowed to operate in any permanent park nowadays. Think Zippers, Swinging Cages, Gravitrons running at flat out speeds, Scramblers at least three times faster than the one at Kings Island is these days, bumper cars that bump at speeds that can hurt, Spiders faster than any Spider today (except Camden Park's...which is still stupendously fast), and on and on and on...
