May 27, 201016 yr Ever wonder what challenges construction crews and engineers were faced with while building and testing Kingda Ka? This 4 part video from National Geographic does a great job showing what happened during these phases as well as the very slow process of a pull through (and the wonderful measuring they did). Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
May 27, 201016 yr Author It shows some of the long hours that crews put in for an amusement park ride. Incredible.
May 27, 201016 yr I think the Gravity Group engineer at HW are doing about the same hours with new Timberliners. Getting to talk to him at Holiday Hustle was a real treat and I think his work will pay off real soon as well!
May 27, 201016 yr The hydraulic motor is a feat in itself. Yes that was impressive, and a year to manufacture. WOW!
May 27, 201016 yr The fact such a ride could be designed to operate in, constructed in, then operate in New Jersey is a miracle in and of itself. The State did require major modifications to the ride, which is one reason it rides so differently than the smaller version found in Ohio.

May 27, 201016 yr Yes. (Truly) (Just don't ride the back seats of cars on Ka unless you love rough riders!)
May 27, 201016 yr Yes. (Truly) (Just don't ride the back seats of cars on Ka unless you love rough riders!) 5-1?
May 27, 201016 yr I much prefer 1-1 on TTD and Ka. TTD is a graceful beast that fluidly performs it maneuvers to the delight of most riders. Ka is far more powerful, surging up the hill...and is the more brutal of the two coasters of its ilk. I like them both, just in different ways. That all being said, you won't find me in the back seats of cars on Ka. I'm too old for that.
