What's Kings Island's Height Limit?

Featured Replies

a couple of days ago on ki's 5@5 they stated that Kings Island has a height limit because of a nearby airport, does anyone on here that can tell and will post, know what that height limit is?

Who knows. Good question to ask on the 5@5.

^it's been asked every day since that answer was posted, but there are other really good questions being asked as well. :)

at least we have a start though, somewhere between 315'*- 500' is the height limit, just don't know where at in there.

*guess what, i was wrong, lol, the tallest thing at the park right now is 315' in the air, not 314'. :P

Yes. It's less than 500 feet but not less than 315 feet.

Reason:

Eiffel Tower and Drop Tower are both listed as being 315 feet tall on the park's website.

The person who answered that question seemed to indicate that height restrictions would not allow them to build anything that was 500 feet tall.

i just placed a number that popped into my head when i thought of the height of the Eiffel Tower, i'll go back and change it. :)

I believe that 315 feet is just the height of the upper observation deck. ThrillNetwork.com lists the height at 331.5 feet, which seems fairly accurate (they also list Drop Tower at 315 feet).

Eiffel Tower's height was originally 331ft before 1999, at which time the antenna was replaced to make Drop Tower the tallest ride in the park. The observation decks are at 295ft (main deck) and 285ft (inclement weather deck).

Don't forget the 50 ft one. Even if it's closed, it's still an observation deck.

Click Charts, TAC, Cincinnati TAC chart. King's Island is a giant Eiffel Tower. Anyone know what the blue line is over the tower with an airplane? Lebanon airport is also pretty close, along with Cincinnati blue ash.

Yes, that is CVG (Greater Cincinnati Northern KY) approach between 5,000 and 12,000. Most are at 12,000, but if there is a low ceiling (clouds) they will be closer to 5,000. Flying, both airports are about the same, but driving I think Blue Ash is closer. I can't see that much of a height restriction, but for some reason I keep thinking that I had heard 400ft from some where. Most small aircraft stay at about 1200-1500ft in that area because it keeps you above the towers and gives you a great view.

^If they have time, they will get back to you.........? An easer solution should be in the topography papers and land agreement at city hall.

edit: Didn't mean to come across like that KI-Org. Just dealt with the FAA a little too much.
