Thanks to the folks over at CWMania for the pictures: http://www.cwmania.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=40526#p40526

Survey stakes are already up and they have a backhoe on site & ready to go. There's also markers on trees. Since the markers are already up, this is probably going to be another big addition to the park. These markers are up much earlier than they were with Behemoth.

Looks like Cedar Fair found a home for SOB.

Kidding aside, I would say a new coaster definiatly, its too early to call the type of ride.

I still think it is a little early to call this a new attraction for next year, let alone a new coaster project. I mean, it could be something related to later this season, such as a Haunt addition. Don`t count the chickens before they hatch.

It seems too big to be just a haunt project, Backhoes on site this early?

One thing I dont get is the location. If you look at a map of CW, behind PS doesnt looks like that great of a place to place a new ride. They could be building a kids ride, but why start now?

Well once the park starts daily operation, access to the particular site may be restricted. Also, it could be for something that is not even a ride or an attraction. It could be for a back of house facility of some sort, and hence it makes no difference when they start construction on it. And some flat rides and non-roller coaster rides still require a lot of site prep, depending on the particular attraction in question. I just think it is too early to jump to the immediate conclusion that it is a roller coaster based on survey markers, marked trees, the presence of backhoes and the timing. Seems just a little circumstantial to me at this point.

Let's not forget that 2011 is the park's 30th anniversary.

And what exactly does that have to do with anything? When Kings Island turned 25, they got an expanded water park. When Kings Island turned 30, it got Tomb Raider the Ride. When the park turned 35 in 2007, it got Firehawk from Geauga Lake.

Anniversary years typically are not that significant in the decision by a park to introduce a major capital investment in the park. There are scores of other factors that account for that major decision.

As an aside, next year will be Coney`s 125th anniversary!

Also, this is post #8,000 for me.

Alright, so, more interesting news. It appears that there are MORE markers than in the Planet Snoopy area. Again, photos courtesy of CWMania! For anyone that has been to the park, these stakes are in the lake by Vortex.

The red markers and the yellow markers aren't even close to eachother. So, they could probably something completely separate.

Hit up the link for MORE pictures!

And like I said in that thread, I doubt that rumor is true. And just because there are survey markers by the ride does not mean that they will be building anything to replace said ride. Those survey markers could just be denoting. For example, red survey markers or spray paint on the ground can indicated underground electrical lines.

I wouldn't be doubting or hoping yet.

If this means anything, CWMania is down.

There was a hardware failure with the hosting company. Could be down for a few more days. I've been hinting for a while that they should switch hosts but that has yet to happen. Since the site is down, we have no new pictures to post from this weekend at this time.

From what I've heard, the stakes behind Planet Snoopy are yellow (Which means land clearing, apparently) and there's only 5 or 6. There are tons of red stakes underneath Vortex, Skyrider, and some yellow stakes in the area near Timberwolf Falls, their flume ride.

The people on CWMania are driving themselves crazy guessing what it could be, but from what I've heard it's a B&M Invert, though it's just random guessing until we see anything aside from stakes.

I mean, like Robbie said, they could mean anything. It wouldn't be the first time we've been kidding ourselves with these rumors.

I love how little it takes. If we got a few little red markers in the park, it would be "semi-confirmed" that we were getting a B&M Invert for 2011. Not that anyone's reading their own desires into that, right?

The track is made in Batavia, right here near Cincinnati.

I still lol every time this happens, track shows up and people automatically assume it's for park "X"'s new coaster.

And *I* laugh at Lance's comment. That is NOT the only place B & M track is made. It IS the only place making it for B & M's North American rides...

Has anyone been following their PR guy on Twitter?

I feel a park walk is in order today....it's going to be a nice day. Maybe I'll take a spin around Vortex lake

@db_r I'm so sweaty after trucking through the forest. Oh also, I've uploaded the pics I took. They're in the "Project Thunderball"
