Cedar Fair/Apollo Agree to Walk Away From Leveraged Buyout, Kings Island's Web Site Gets a New Look, Opening Day & More!

In December, Apollo Global Management offered a leverage buyout of Cedar Fair, Kings Island's parent company. The deal consisted of a cash-for-units swap of $11.50 per limited partner unit. Plagued by investor protests and delays, Cedar Fair and Apollo Global Management announced today that they had mutually agreed to terminate the merger proposal. In a press release by Cedar Fair L.P., the company cites a lack of investor support. "The Board has heard from Cedar Fair unitholders and it is apparent that the merger transaction does not have the required level of investor support. We are honored and excited by the opportunity to continue to manage and operate Cedar Fair as a public company and to provide our guests with an outstanding experience." said Dick Kinzel, CEO of the Cedar Fair Entertainment Company. As a result of this merger proposal termination, the Special Meeting of the Unitholders scheduled for April 8th has been canceled.

It's coming! It's coming! It's coming! Kings Island's Opening Day is less than two weeks away! Saturday, April 17th will be the day we've all been anticipating. Some of your favorite rides such as Diamondback, The Beast, The Racer, and many others will awake from their winter slumber to thrill all of you! That's right ladies and gentlemen, Spring is here!!!

**Please note that Kings Island will be closed to the public April 18th for a private event.

Speaking of Opening Day, two brand new shows will debut at Kings Island when the park opens on April 17th. Join Linus and Lucy as they head over to Grandma's house in a song-filled adventure in Charlie Brown's Hoedown! Showtimes are 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, 4:00 and 5:00 in the PEANUTS Playhouse, located in the new Planet Snoopy.

Also debuting on Opening Day will be a tribute to the classic television shows that we all know as Way Too Much TV is brought to you in the Festhaus! This exciting new show will be brought to you at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, 4:00 and 5:00 beginning April 17th!
