Ride and Coaster Lighting at KI

Featured Replies

So I was thinking about KI Ride and Coaster Lighting... when you actually look at it it is very minimal. Yes the Eiffel Tower lighting is Sweet!! but other than that the only rides lit up to any extent are Delirium, Drop Tower and Invertigo. Yes last year they added 2 spotlights to Firehawk but it did not really do much and SOB only has 1 or 2 and looks kind of pathetic. When you think about what the KI Skyline could look like at night if some lights were just added to these coasters. Just look at Cedar Point... Nothing special except for MF (Possibly best Lighting EVER used on a coaster!! Especially now that they are getting it fixed back to the way it was) but it looks amazing!! they have Mantis, Dragster, Raptor, WT, MF, Blue Streak, and Mean Streak. If they just did to SOB what they did to Mean streak it would be Amazing and added some Spotlights on the lift hill of DB and even some on Racer or Vortex's hill or loops it would look 1000 times better :D

So do you think KI should add more Ride and Coaster lighting to the Park??

I added a few pics of what I am talking about :D

It just makes the park even more mesmerizing and welcoming at night.

Vortex has lighting, and so does Racer.

CP has lighting on many of their coasters due to their location on the midways, and, you can see all sides of the coasters from many locations in the park.

KI does not have that luxury, as many of their coasters are somewhat secluded.

I actually like having the coasters not lit up at KI. It gives the coasters a different "ride" at night.

Not to mention the bugs all those lights attract at CP. The bugs being near the lake is bad enough, with the lights, it's worse. It is so bad that I will refuse a front seat ride at night.

Yes. A front seat ride on Millenium Force can be quite painful at night, as you kill hundreds of gnats and other tiny bugs. And did I mention that it leaves your shirt a disgusting mess with splattered bug guts all over it?

Just think of the extra protein one gets at night at cp. It's the only free meal you get at a CF park.

I see what you mean about the seclusion of the coasters but what about DB and SOB... The 2 biggest coasters in the park are right on the Midways. if SOB were lit up like MS at night it would seem even more like a Beast (excuse that that was a really bad and unintentional pun lol) and if they just added Spotlights on DBs Lift it would not affect the night ride at all. I feel like Coaster lighting is a way of showing off a ride and why not show off your multimillion dollar investments :D

ps. the bugs on CP coasters at night are not that bad except MF which still seems to have dumb ppl lining up to ride front seat after dark... if you ride further back than the front car you are good :D

Be nice...one of those "dumb people" lining up to ride Millennium Force after dark (and Top Thrill Dragster, which is worse in that respect) is Terpy....

Dumb, my foot....

I ride Millie after dark too... just not Front row :D those are the people i am talking about. Granted it is worth it to do at least once just for the experience!

I ONLY ride Millennium Force in either the back seat or the front. Light or dark. I'm not wasting my time elsewhere on that ride, after having proven to myself that the other seats do not offer the superior rides that those do...

Still, I'd rather be on Maverick; Magnum XL-200; the second tallest, second fastest roller coaster in the USA; the Kitty; Blue Streak...I could go on and on, but I don't have a mean streak in me sufficient enough to do so....

Don't get me started on my first ever ride on Millennium Force. Yes it was at night. Yes it was in the front seat.

Anyways...

I think Kings Island has some of the best night rides around. A big bright light blinding you ruins the experience and almost pitch black ride on a coaster. Cedar Point isn't surrounded by large amounts of woods like Kings Island is and I think that is a pretty unique thing to have now a days.
