January 21, 201016 yr Always cool to see the behind the scenes work! These pics make me want to ride though!
January 21, 201016 yr Very cool pictures, always nice to see The Elderly being put through a little rest and relaxation.
January 21, 201016 yr This doesn't have to do with the trains themselves, but I realized that they put some kind of grease on the lap bars. It's so disgusting......
January 21, 201016 yr ^^That third picture is one of the Chassis upside down. It looks like the wheels and the brake fin have been removed from the bottom.
January 21, 201016 yr That was another guess I had, btu then I just pictured the bottoms to look different.
January 21, 201016 yr The Wood Coaster Maintenance building as it is. I believe that it is located in one of the buildings next to Racer.
January 21, 201016 yr Thanks for sharing Ryan! I hope KI can give us more of these cool pics to help us burn the off season away.
January 21, 201016 yr I always love to see the inner workings of things. I love these pictures. It always amazes me that all the coaster trains are painstakingly taken apart and put back together every winter at Kings Island. After all, safety is of paramount importance at any amusement park. Some parks actually don`t do that type of maintenance in house, or every year for that matter. Some parks actually ship the trains back to the manufacturer every two years, and let the manufacturer do that type of maintenance. And I do not think that there is grease on the lap bars. Remember, that those orange lap bars tend to attract dirt, and often get dark spots where the dirt collects. Besides, the trains are still in the process of being put back together. They haven`t been given a once over and cleaned like I`m sure they will be before the first guests board them in April.
January 21, 201016 yr ^ ahh i guess that would make sense then woops, i forgot to hit post, this was suppost to go after tycoon telling me that this was in the wooden coaster main. building.
January 21, 201016 yr ^^ There is grease on the lapbars, just not the orange part that holds the rider in. I can say from experience that i've accidentally stuck my hand in grease on the black portion on the lower end of the bar, where the bar connects to the rest of the train. It all depends on how fast maintenance decides to slap the grease on the connection.
January 21, 201016 yr Stuff like this makes me want to change my field into mechinics. I know these jobs are sparse but working on cars would be great too.
January 21, 201016 yr ^ I agree with you..makes me wish I could get a job working on the coasters sometimes when I see these types of pics lol

January 22, 201016 yr Thursday, Ray Kruse, a rides electronics technician at Kings Island, wired the lap bar device on Beast rain cars in the park's wood coaster maintenance shop. ah, so that's what it is, they only have two trains designed to run in the rain, and we blamed it on Cedar Fair's safety rules.

It all depends on how fast maintenance decides to slap the grease on the connection. They probably do not apply grease "on", but rather "in", via grease fittings. But where there are grease fittings, there will often be excess grease/grime to be found accidentally. I can say this from experience!
