December 16, 200916 yr On vBulletin boards, there's an option to enable a "Thanks for this useful post" button. Does the new version of Invision Boards have this feature as well? If so, I think it would be a cool idea to enable it here. It could be a nice (albeit small) incentive to post helpful information. For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, think of it as the Facebook "Like" button. Any thoughts?
December 16, 200916 yr There is a small plus sign and minus sign in the bottom right corner of each post on this board that I imagine does about the same thing... They don't seem to be working for me, but I believe that's the general idea behind them. If you agree you hit plus, if you disagree you hit minus, etc. Perhaps they've been disabled by the administrator, as that would require an entirely new set of rules, bring about a lot of hurt feelings, etc.
December 16, 200916 yr I have used the plus and negative buttons on another Forum, and you can only use it once per day. But I am not sure.
December 16, 200916 yr The problem with post karma/reputation (as it seems to be called in IPB) is that instead of using it for its intended purpose, people would give negative rep to people who disagree with them.
December 17, 200916 yr Author I like the idea. If there was a "Thanks" button, I'd press it for this idea. Awww, thanks. The problem with post karma/reputation (as it seems to be called in IPB) is that instead of using it for its intended purpose, people would give negative rep to people who disagree with them. I think to help combat that, just a plus button would be better. That way you know who's useful and you can make your own judgement on who is useless. This should help avoid that whole immaturity factor.
December 17, 200916 yr That is because the voting system is currently disabled, so everyone's is like that.
