Name what you think all of the rides would be called if paramount still owned it and made ALL the rides based off movies... even guess what you think they would add to the park...

ill start:

Firehawk - iron man: the ride

ADD- a hotel for dog the ride

Flight of Fear- independence day: the ride

first off, i have no idea what movies you are talking about except for with Flight of Fear. And Flight of Fear was named under paramount.... ugh. It was themed after The outer limits but it wasnt awful when that was dropped and it was just called Flight of Fear. and what is ADD anyways?

i mean like if paramount still owned the park what do you think THEY would add ( based off of paramount movies)

Don't forget that if the park was still owned under Paramount, that a platinum pass (which many of us have or are planning to buy) would be completely useless, unless you live close to Cedar Point.

And I have a hard time believing that Paramount would have agreed to the addition of a B&M hyper. Even if they did, I cannot begin to imagine the stupid name they would have come up with.

In a parallel universe, I think Diamondback would have been "Iron Man" themed, had it been a Paramount deal. I don't think they'd have changed any of their existing names, though.

Yes, when Flight of Fear opened in 1996 it was known as "Outer Limits: Flight of Fear." In 2001, the same year that the new lap bars were added to the ride, the Outer Limits license was not renewed and the ride became known simply as "Flight of Fear." The preshow video was edited to remove the references to the Outer Limits. Some of the audio that can be heard on the exit platform of the ride was not very well edited, however. I`m not certain on the exact phrases, but I know one of them is along the lines of this: "Thanks for coming with us to the" and it cuts off where it used to say 'outer limits.'

Maybe I missed something, but what's got everyone so positive that Paramount would have removed KI's FoF? It was KD's that was SBNO towards the end of the Paramount days, not KI's. Not to mention that it was added in 1996 in the first place, when Paramount owned the park, so obviously they would have added it since they did. And who's to say that we would never have received a similar Vekoma Flying Dutchman like Firehawk, the standard FD model? California's (then Paramount's) Great America got one, which was later moved to Carowinds, both under Paramount. Expecting a Vekoma FD wouldn't have been wildly impossible unlike expecting, say, an Intamin Giga would have been under Paramount, would it?

But Paramount also installed Flight of Fear at Kings Dominion the same year as KI got Flight of Fear. And it was widely rumored that KD`s Flight of Fear was SBNO because they were going to be removing it and sending it to Canada`s Wonderland I believe. KI`s Flight of Fear was to eventually be sent down to Carowinds. It was all part of a ride rotation program. And remember, that during the last year or so that the park was called Paramount`s Kings Island, it wasn`t Paramount or Viacom that owned the parks. CBS was the company that owned Paramount Parks, and they very much wanted to save on expenses wherever possible and sell the parks as quickly as possible. They really had no interest in the Paramount Parks, nor in investing millions in capital improvements.

And the reason that Stealth was removed from Great America and sent to Carowinds wasn`t entirely because of a ride rotation program. Great America is land locked (land that is not owned by the park, but leased from the city of Santa Clara which is the center of debate right now with the proposed 49ers stadium). The park wanted to expand its water park, and in order to do so, they had to remove Stealth. Why scrap a ride that could be a major new investment at a sister property on land that was formerly unused? So the ride opened as Borg at Carowinds.

Part of the consideration of the move of the Flight of Fear coasters involved a total re-theme. Surveys were sent to various folks... myself included... that gave different options. I can't recall the specifics of the potential FOF re-theme, but do recall it having something to do with MTV - ala Rock n Roller Coaster and it was to be called "Soundwave." Here's the rendering:

Another little known fact is that there were MANY proposed theme changes to significant parts of KI. One shocker is that plans were in the works to re-theme Coney Mall to "TV LAND."

TV Land was supposed to re-vitalize the neglected back corner of the park and would have been anchored by the install of "Addams Family Values - The Ride" that was slated to have it's entrance built in the general area of the Flight Commander pad. The park was close to securing the rights to the characters for the attraction when the Countess that owned them passed away leaving the trademark in limbo. That negated the install and the park passed on the ride unit itself. You can still ride it though... it became "Mystery Mine" at Dollywood instead. Also of note is that originally Tomb Raider was to have it's entrance placed in the area in which the Addams ride was later proposed. When the decision to remove KCKC was made - TR was re-surveyed for that spot. Well prior to that, Drop Zone was originally slated for this same area... but the park passed on it and expanded the waterpark instead. The original Drop Zone proposed for KI was instead installed at PCW. KI didn't get theirs for years... and got a much larger version.

Drop Zone and Face/Off were last minute decisions provoked by the decision to build SOB. Once the park knew that they wanted to build SOB, they decided to overhaul the sad Adventure Village area of the park and remove all traces of the former Safari Theme. They quickly made the decision to add the two rides the year prior to SOB, which explains why PKI installed a small foot-print shuttle instead of a full circuit invert.

In addition, prior to the decision to remove the Safari Monerail, PPD&E actually drew up plans for an attraction called "Movierail" that would have used the Safari Trams. Guests would have passed by recreations of Paramount Movie Scenes and iconic tv sets. For instance the Brady Bunch House.

I know it seems far fetched, but trust me... it's all true.

now that is awesome! but im glad neither happened... im guessing they scrapped the monorail idea because it took up so much space and it wouldnt be a big huge draw...

And to think what would have happened if any of those ideas had actually been approved and constructed. Kings Island would be a much different place than it is today.

The park still needs to do something with the old Flight Commander area. The whole area from the old funnel cake building down to the restrooms is rather dead and could really benefit from some new attractions/rides. Who knows how long, it will be before we see anything added in that area of the park.

Prior to SOB, a wooden coaster had been considered for the Swan Lake area.

Chances are good that Paramount would have also removed the lake for the sake of an attraction.

I always though it was going be where Backlot currently is. Isn't that where the Vekoma Flying Dutchman going to be built also, but than canceled after the problems Stealth had?

Possibly, but the area would've had to be resurveyed.

My guess is that we did not get Dominator because we were slated to get Diamondback in 2009.

I wish TR:TR would have gone to the original place... the box would have been hidden... but oh well... its the decisions we dont make that affect us the most....

To think, Kings Island could have received Mystery Mine, which happens to be my favorite ride and could've gotten FIVE highly themed dark rides (Spongebob Boating, Addams Family Values, Mystery Mine, Soundwave, a better themed Tomb Raider) I do not like the idea of the Coney Mall retheme, but any good dark ride would make up for that, at least for me.

But to think about it, we likely would not have gotten Diamondback, BLSC, Drop Zone, or Invertigo... I don't know about most of you, but I would rather have the five dark rides. (assuming they were themed, and were themed well)

Sadly, I believe that dark rides are a thing of the past...
