after watching that video a few more times it looks like the boy discovered the somthing happend to his leg and dad was trying to either franticly move somthing or check his leg. its outta view so we cant tell but it defently looks like there was a problem down by the boys legs. and at one point in the video it looks like the boy kinda passes out a bit and then says "darn, My leg" then during the roll back the boy says "oh , S***" i would like to see what the outcome was ....

Terrible accident to say the least. Just remember, don't let accidents like these scare you from riding coasters like them, your still more likely to get in an accident just driving to an amusement park.

I am wonding if broken parts of the cable/ catch car assembly got wedged in between the track & seat bolts and actually broke the bolt off which caused the seat to move.

I have no idea on how those seats are bolted to the frame of the car, I'm just throwing a wild stab out there because the seat doesn't move until over halfway through the roll-back.

Ya I had to watch it over like 10 times to make sure it wasn't the camera playing tricks, I then line the seat up with the seat behind it. It def comes forwards thats for sure.

Would it make noises a few rides before the incident happened?

Most probably not. . .cables that snap often do so without warning. There MAY (or may not) be visible signs of wear, but an auditory warning that far in advance that a steel cable is about to snap would be considered rare.

wow!!!!!!! looks like the cable cut the front of the ride in half.

It broke my heart a little bit to see those pictures. I hope something like that never, ever happens at KI. Ever.

well said.....we take a risk with ANY ride we get on.

A very small one. It is in any park's interest to make its rides and park as safe as is practicable. After all, safety is paramount.

Was the kid hurt at all? If not he is VERY lucky. I'm sure he's traumatized now.

Thoughts go out to the family for this horrific incident.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 16. The 12 year old boy suffered lacerations and was taken to a hospital, from which he was reportedly released on Friday, the 18th.
