rollercoaster length (time or distance)

Featured Replies

ok can anyone help me? im trying to measure out anything i can about a rollercoaster (preferably at KI) like at what time or distance does it reach certain things...like say 222' out of the station, DB reaches the top of the hill, at ___feet it reaches the bottom and so on etc. or minutes (minutes would work better for something like 'beast' of course). does anyone happen to know where i can find this info?

this is to compare it to geologic time....yeah its a pain. but she said compare it to something you know or love, and i love rollercoasters. her example was comparing it to a mile [fitting 4.6 billion years into a mile is so fun.] or a 24 hour period. im currently trying to find a good POV of The Beast and time it out n.n; i predict epic fail. [i think time on The Beast would be fun, especially if it matched up like 'dinosaurs went extinct about halfway through the helix lol]

im not honestly expecting an answer. this sort of thing is.... weird for me to ask

This Diamondback POV could likely help you out. I believe (I'm sure someone here knows for sure) that the lift hill is ~45 seconds, so this likely begins about 40 seconds after the train leaves the station.

You can get Diamondback stats at http://www.kiDiamondback.com/public/ride/statistics.cfm

Here is a Beast POV that could also help.

You can get Beast stats at http://www.rcdb.com/67.htm

Using a POV video is really a great idea for this. I would pick a more complicated ride than Beast or Diamondback though: Beast is great but has alot of flat spots and Diamondback is just hill after hill after hill.

I would use something like Vortex with its six loops, or Invertigo maybe. If you will be talking about mass extinction events in this timeline, Son of Beast would be a good choice.

haha true about SOB but....all the coaster times were too short (about 4/5ths of the events ended up being on the station brakes....booooooooooo) and i cant really find any distance info (that woulda worked so much better) but heh i kinda cheated....i used a 100 ride beast marathon xD. fit perfectly into 8 hours if my calculations are correct, and at least half of the events ended up being at fairly interesting places like the helix tunnels. but can you say not enough aspirin in the world? @_@

now i just need a good overview of it to put on my pretty pretty (very last minute) powerpoint slide... ha. full pic....of beast...uh huh ok. um.....anyone got any? lol
