So what could be new for 2010?

Featured Replies

Well it was this time last year that Diamondback construction had already started. Unfortunately I have not been to the park to ride DB :( (That will be in Oct). I was just wondering if anyone has noticed any dirt being moved around at the park? Anything being stirred up, or speculation for 2010?

Flight Deck from CGA seems short (height and length) for an invert. I'd much rather wait a few years and get a new invert from B&M. I certainly wouldn't mind it though. KI is definitely lacking a good inverted coaster.

I've been on FD at CGA, back when it was still Top Gun. It was a pretty good invert, but nowhere near the likes of Raptor or Alpengeist. Nonetheless still a pretty fun ride.

I don't expect very much next season.. A lot of rumors have been flying about removing rides (The Crypt, Flight Deck, SoB obviously). I personally don't think it'll happen, but I've been wrong before. I would, however, love to see a big flat added to the park (looking at you, Skyhawk!).

We are getting a Ferris Wheel and Screamin' Swing in Coney Mall. Haven't you guys seen the concept art?

:o

It would be real nice to have a Intamin strata coaster. Of course I doubt that would happen but it'd be really awesome!

EDIT: The only bad part would be it would break down all the time and we would have hard time getting a chance to ride it.

i love the idea of a ferris wheel and a screamin swing. two great rides that would add a lot of punch and a lot of fun to our park, which imo lacks in the flat dept.

I could also see us getting Vortex at CGA.

And the Eagles. Are those Eagles like our old ones?

No. They are a modern set, and nowhere near as fun. For an example, see Indiana Beach...

Screamin' Swings are FAR better than Giant Frisbees, IMO. The lapbars really do contribute to the ride. They provide good amounts of airtime. I think it would fit better in X-Base than Coney Mall though.

Although, I don't think running costs for Screamin' Swings are too cheap...

Smash Factory is alot better than sbob, yes bring it back That was funny.

When you think about it, Action Theater has had Spongebob for almost half of its life. They could also add some theming- a few crates spraypainted bright colors with "Krabby Patties", "Pickles", etc. written on them. That wouldn't take too much out of the theming budget, would it?

IF Nick is leaving, and I am not saying that it is, nor am I saying that it is not, why would you go out of your way to theme Spongebob Squarepants....especially since it is also playing at the Cinci Zoo....

I think next year might finally be the year that X-Base becomes an official Area. That means that I think they will add a flat or two a gift shop, and perhaps a resteraunt(sp?)

You guys are talking about CGA closing and CF then moving those rides. Well, Screamscape said there is a rumor that they may retheme their Nick section next year into Planet Snoopy. If that's true, then I don't think we'll see any of those rides coming here anytime soon...

Screamscape may or may not be right. If California's Great America ends up being sold (and it is for sale) and/or the 49'rs stadium goes forward, there is no way Nick there will be rethemed as anything other than what the new owners may want it to be.

Terpy, just sayin'

I know Screamscape could be wrong. I was just letting people know that there was that rumor. With the stadium being built, would that make CGA close? I know there is a thread on it, but I just had a quick question.

Cedar Fair has the park for sale. They have only a leasehold. It is of course their contention that the park cannot operate with the stadium competing for parking. Cedar Fair has made quite clear it is not happy with the proposed arrangement, and, presumably would go away with the payment of the right amount of nickels....

We are getting nothing of significance next year! If you want something new, you will have to go to KD or Carowinds..... Or, if you believe rumors, CP!

I would love a Screaming Swing at Cedar Point and it would be great addition right there next to The Racer. I much perfer Sky Hawk over Max Air or Delerium.

Well, it wouldn't help much to visit a valley fair.

Honestly the one thing I would LOVE to see happen is a re-theming of 1/2 of Action Zone. IF sob gets taken down eventually I think a really nice expansion down that way would be awesome. Open up the area more so the q-line to Flight Deck is not a hike and maybe add a flat or 2 to that area. And of course my dream would always be to re-theme FD and maybe replace the trains with inverted trains (it has been done before).

What theming budget? ;)

Actual inverted (rigidly connected to the track, see Invertigo), or floorless suspended (like the ones wee have now, just floorless and from Vekoma)? The latter was done at Chessington World of Adventures on Vampire. Not sure if it has been done on anything else.

I would love to see the park get a Ferris Wheel next year. But I highly doubt it will get anything but higher prices.
