August 10, 200917 yr http://whitelightning.carowinds.com/ Wow that was so easy! Do you think this is real?
August 10, 200917 yr I don't think that's a real IIS page. It uses a image used in Windows advertising... and "Cedarfair LP"? Red herring...
August 10, 200917 yr Having seen photos of RED track sitting in the parking lot next to Thunder Road, I find it hard to believe that the ride would be called "White Lightning."
August 10, 200917 yr Author Well on the Carowinds website where they are advertising for the ride they have a word in white and gray.
August 10, 200917 yr Having seen photos of RED track sitting in the parking lot next to Thunder Road, I find it hard to believe that the ride would be called "White Lightning." Factory error?
August 10, 200917 yr if it were factory error, there's a very good chance the pieces would not still be on site.
August 10, 200917 yr One thing's for sure. If it's not legitimate, the purchaser of Paramount Parks will be interested in the registrant. Companies take matters like this very seriously. If it is legitimate, I trust that Cedar Fair Entertainment Company and/or Cedar Fair LP has the express permission to use Microsoft's marketing materials for other purposes. After all, lightning sometimes strikes twice.
August 10, 200917 yr In that case, Terpy, CF's Legal Team, as well as Gates' (though I couldnt care less if he gets any satisfaction) had best be getting on this one with any type of trace methods they have ASAP. There are too many things that scream "not legit" about that page, and I would highly suggest anyone who has hit that link run a virus scan as I just did (came up clean btw).
August 10, 200917 yr If it's *.carowinds.com, I'd assume that CF knows about it. Original image: http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/windows...o-PrintSize.jpg (linked due to very large image size, 56k warning!)
August 10, 200917 yr I was looking at RCDB and I saw that there was a coaster that was defunt in 1988, White Lightning. I don't think they'd be putting in a new coaster the same name. I guess that doesn't really matter.
August 10, 200917 yr Considering there's nothing on that page, I wouldn't be surprised if they registered it just to keep people guessing, as White Lightning is the current front-runner in the rumor mill for the name. There's probably other ridename.carowinds.com pages that haven't been discovered yet, and the real one will be revealed in all it's glory when the ride is announced.
August 10, 200917 yr This reminds me of all the fun we had trying to guess the name of KI's new coaster. We just got a bunch of signs. I wonder if these types of web pages were out there, and nobody found them?
