The Son of Beast Discussion Thread

Featured Replies

No. I do not need to object to everything. But I do object to those who are not interested in history. Those who do not learn their history are doomed to repeat it. Or so it has been said.

so can we see another king cobra in our future becuase we are doomed to repeat our history? haha

Actually King Cobra was a very popular ride, that was ranked among the best of the stand up coasters.

In popular belief it was removed because the ride parts were deteriorating, and with TOGO out of business, parts were getting harder and harder to come by.

it was a joke

Sorry, but its useful to use one of these ;) when making a joke.

Some people think that King Cobra's loop was removed and installed on Son of Beast, and that Son of Beast's loop was removed to be added to Runaway Reptar!

And welcome to KICentral!

I have to point out that Universal Studios Florida, along with almost every other park in that region, operates almost all year long, so if they were to open Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit in August, it would still have till about December to please guests for it's opening "Year", unlike seasonal parks one would have to wonder if there is as much time pressure to get rides open quickly for year round parks......

But... For the people that do come to USF will go home telling there friends/relatives all about HRRR and everyone knows the best advertising is word of mouth.

True but outside of the local area and people like us who knows about Knoebels. Don't get me wrong it looks like a great park but it's not in the same scrutiny that Uni or even KI is in.

All a soft opening means is the ride is open but it has not been announced as open.

But... Let's get back to Son of Beast.

Maybe Kings Island is planning either a soft removal or soft retrofit of Son of Beast since they are so fond of actually making public announcements about anything. I guess we are also in the process of a soft transition to Planet Snoopy ;)

On the Travel Channel now SOB is in the top 10 Mega Structures tune in now it's on 10 now...

Does SOB have little pond type things back along it's course? I've never ridden it but during its segment, it looked like there were little blue ponds back there. Or, were there at one point?

Ahhhh. Okay. I've always wondered that since I first saw the show years ago, but never got around to finding out the answer. Thanks! :)

ive actually been on KICentral for awhile i just finally made an account

I'm pretty new to the KI Central Forums, but I would like to say this:I think (and this is no secret) that Cedar Fair will do what they think is the most adventageous for the park concerning SoB. Personally, I enjoyed the coaster and I definitely appreciate the design. Despite whatever problems may have cropped up, for those of use who consider KI our home park, an Action Zone without it would be empty. In these times, it's also no secret that money (and profit) are hard to come by. If Cedar Fair calculates that it would be more profitable to tear down this coaster than to do some work on it over the off-season, it may well disappear. If only the people on these forums had the hard numbers, we could probably figure out for sure what's up. :)If SoB does have to go, I will always remember the fact that KI (well, PKI at the time) tried to give us a record-breaking wooden coaster that would exceed our expectations. All opinions aside, it did.If SoB does go away, I think something will come along to make up for such a loss. Hopefully it will stay. Things can't happen overnight or even in the off-season necessarily. After all, we have DB to take away all our sadness. :)All the same, I look forward to all the off-season talk! :)

^Don't say the O word!!!! I'm still in denial about how close it's getting.

I'm hoping its the 2 options that were listed besides being torn down that was listed on Screamscape.

That is the issue.

The problems just haven't cropped up; they have been with the ride since day one, and haven't gone away.

KI is my home park, and I don't think that AZ would be empty without it- it still has DZ, FD, DT, Invertigo, and Delirium, most of which I enjoy.

The brakes would break.

Try to say that three times fast!

The brakes will break the breaks will break the breaks will break

 Stupid tongue twisters.

Seriously? Plastic Breaks? Are you retarted?

What the heck are plastic brakes anyway? I mean, they do sound stupid.

I know SOB is closed but today I was at the park and saw that the blue train was on the transfer track is there a reason why its still sitting there???

Was the red train still there?

No I just saw the blue train sitting there and that was it. I heard a lot of people talking about SOB today at the park and I was happy to hear it was memories of it and I didnt hear no false information or things people sometimes say because I know that happens and people don't know what there talking about and get carried away and say people died on it.

When I look at the storage track, it is very hard for me to even see the trains. I'm not sure which I normally see, because I can't really see both of them. Are you sure they weren't both there?

Someone was killed by SoB, by the way.

I wonder when that red train will end up on ItalIntl.

Was just skimming the thread and found this and needed to comment:

Don't use a derogatory term if you don't even know how to spell it. Disgusting.
