Preparing for the Wallenda Walk...

Acrobat Nik Wallenda, second right, looks at blueprints with engineers from Kings Island Friday of the setup for his August 15 high-wire walk at the Mason, Ohio amusement park. A seventh-generation member of the world-famous Wallenda family of daredevils, the 30-year-old Sarasota, Florida native will push the limits of what his great-grandfather, Karl Wallenda, started more than 100 years ago with a high-wire walk on a cable about the diameter of a nickel suspended 262 feet in the air from the park’s front gate to the Eiffel Tower – a distance of more than 800 feet – with no safety nets or harnesses. Wallenda’s walk at Kings Island is scheduled for 7:00pm and included free with park admission.

Let's not kid ourselves - The Beast and Diamondback are amazing rides, but they'll also be there all season, and next season and for many seasons to come. These special events are pretty rare. The Wallenda walk last year was incredible and this one will be 3x higher?!? I'm definitely looking forward to this.

Forward? You'd best look up to this...

Terpy, who just HAD to, and who often takes a different view of things

Forward is up when you're aiming for the sky, as I always do.

Ryan, who tried...

I missed last years walk and was really disappointed, like Ryan said the special entertainment is rare and I usually come just for them so I am super excited to get a second chance. The height of this walk concerns me in two ways, first I think I would enjoy seeing the walker closer to the ground so he seems bigger and I could see facial expressions and more details during the walk. Second well I must admit I worry about my families emotionial stress if we watched someone fall from that height, I don't know why but last years height seemed OK to me but this 25 stories height makes me a bit to nervous. I will think positive thoughts but honestly I am nervous about this one.

If he were walking six inches above the ground, no one would care, except maybe his Mommy. At this height, many care. Somewhere in between is the line between thrilling and who cares...but where I know not...
