July 14, 200917 yr In light of the woodie poll, and seeing HW beating KI, I am wondering if you think they should go steel next or continue adding to their wood collection? List your thoughts and preferred manufacturer for the park! I would like to see them build a steel coaster by B&M.
July 14, 200917 yr Steel please. I have not been to Holiday World yet but I can see that if there is one area they lack in it is Steel Coasters. They are set for life with woodies, a nice B&M Floorless would do the park wonders.
July 14, 200917 yr Steel. I think a Premier ride would do fine. Something long, but compact with high capacity. I doubt they would try Intamin after the new water ride. Maybe a Euro Fighter would do good.
July 14, 200917 yr I would like to see them build a steel coaster by B&M. It would be interesting to see if they would look B&M up for a steelie. What would even a small B&M (floorless/invert) cost these days? 8 mil? 10? I would love to see a B&M there as much as anyone, but when the time came to do a cost/benefit analysis I've always been curious to see how the numbers would lay out. We can always hold out hope, though!

I would not see them going with a floorless/invert in their first steelie though.
July 14, 200917 yr They already have a Steel Coaster. But yes, They do need to make another Steel Coaster. I'd love to see them make something like Mystery Mine, or like Powder Keg!
July 14, 200917 yr I plan on trying to make a trip out there next summer, and while they probably won't have a new ride by next year (knock on wood) I'd really like to see a nice, long, but SMALL steelie in there. A big steel coaster would, in my opinion, take the magic out of HW.
July 14, 200917 yr I'd love to see them make something like Mystery Mine, or like Powder Keg! I agree with the Premier/S&S launcher. I like the idea of a Powderkeg-like ride utilizing the same terrain that all the woodies do. If they build it I will definitely come.
July 15, 200917 yr I think they should stick with wood. They're known for their outstanding wood coasters and I don't feel like the park is 'missing' anything by not having steel track dominating their skyline.
July 15, 200917 yr I personally agree that they really aren't missing much. They are known for thier wooden coasters, and they do extremely well in that department! But a steel coaster would be a nice addition as well, if they can do it right. If they don't do it just right they might ruin some of the magic and feel of the park. I feel like the nagging of many coaster enthusiests will sway Holiday World into building a steelie. Holiday is known for perfection, I'm sure they will do it just right!
July 15, 200917 yr something tells me, giving there track record, there next ride will be a water slide/ride, for their water park.
July 15, 200917 yr I have never been to HW but I hope to soon but it seems like they need a steel coaster.
July 15, 200917 yr I chose null vote. Holiday World is proof that you don't have to be front and center, or have 946 coasters to be a great park. It's truly a hidden gem. I don't think Holiday World should have to rush to keep up with the trend of other parks adding giant steel coasters. As others have pointed out, it would most likely take the magic away. If they didn't build anything for the next few years, it wouldn't bother me at all. If you want a thrill park with lots of giant steel coasters, there's a great place called Cedar Point. Let Holiday World be what it is.. a wooden coaster lover's paradise.

July 15, 200917 yr it might be awhile before they put in another coaster. bc they switch back and forth each year between what gets something new in each area. (theme park one year and water park the next) *****but though if the new rides are small and inexpensive they will do both areas***** 2006 - Theme Park - Thansgiving Area - The Voyage & Gobbler Getaway 2007 - Water Park - Bakuli 2007 - Theme Park - Turkey Whirl 2008 - Water Park - Kima Bay 2009 - Theme Park - Pilgrims Plunge 2010 - Water Park - ?????? and so on. so you prob wont see one until 2011, 2013, or 2015
July 15, 200917 yr They have traditionally added something to the Water Park and the Theme Park every year. This year it just so happened that Pilgrims Plunge is considered both a Splashin Safari ride (feel free to wear your water park gear on this) and a Holiday World Ride. I doubt a Beemer is ever going to that park, simply because the high minimum height all their rides have makes it decidedly unfriendly towards their core auidence (families with small children.) If a steel coaster does go in, a smallish launched coaster or a non B&M hyper would probably be the direction they go towards. Although Im secretly hoping for a Revenge of the Mummy dark ride/coaster. What about Rudolph: the Ride?
July 15, 200917 yr We will very likely see a new coaster in 2011. Not 2010. Holiday World got Raven in 1996. Then a new coaster every five years proceding Raven. 1996: Raven 2001: Legend 2006: Voyage 2011: ??????? The point is that you really cannot pinpoint what they will get in 2010, because Pilgrims Plunge could be classifyed as both a Splashin' Safari ride, as well as a Holiday World ride. Technically speaking, PP might as well be classifyed as a Holiday World ride because it is located in the Thanksgiving area. But the cycle of water park; theme park theory isn't quite as true as some might think.
July 15, 200917 yr ^There is no cycle, most years they add two new attractions one to HW, one to Splashin Safari. This year they broke that trend by building one ride that is considered part of both parks.
July 15, 200917 yr I choose, don't care just build somthing! As someone said, "if you build it, I will ride it. RIDE ON!"
July 15, 200917 yr Business decisions made at all parks are made on the basis of financial considerations, the general economy, long range planning and other factors that vary wildly. There almost always is NOT a cycle. Patterns may be divined by those who look at the decisions in hindsight, but rarely does a park say "We shall add a coaster in odd years, two flat rides in years divisible by three, one new show each year and two new shows in even years" for instance.

Let Holiday World be what it is.. a wooden coaster lover's paradise. I see your point, but for someone who lives 4.5 hours away from CP, and 3 hours from HW I would like to see some more variety from a local (Indiana) park, although KI is more local than HW for me. Indiana Beach has more variety of coasters, but not as good of quality in my opinion. Plus IB is a little land locked unless they moved their parking lot somewhere else and built in their current parking lot. They did take up some of their parking when they built Steel Hawg.
July 15, 200917 yr I don't think we are too far from Indiana beach living here in Indy, i've never been there though and don't really care to. I'd much rather spend my time at KI. I would like to make it it to HW this year though to check out splashin safari. I heard it's really good.

The closest park, but I agree as well 1/2 hour more and I can ride DB!
July 16, 200917 yr The park no longer charges admission (for the first time in more than 30 years). You can buy a pay one price or pay by the ride. http://www.indianabeach.com/pages/indianabeach_tickets_rates
