Coastermania: Kings Island in the Late 80s/Early 90s

QUOTE (Oldiesmann @ May 30 2009, 02:55 AM) The video has to be from between 1987 and 1990:

In both The Racer and King Cobra videos, you can see the Ferris wheel. According to the KICentral History Timeline, this ride was removed at the end of the 1990 season. However, Vortex didn't open until 1987, so it can't be any earlier than that.

One other thing though. The KICentral History Timeline says that the giant slide was moved to HB Land in 1986. However, if you look off to the right at about the 1:34 mark in The Racer POV, you'll see the giant slide. This means that either the timeline is wrong or the video of The Racer was shot prior to the video of The Vortex...

Just watched The Racer video again, and I noticed that there is no Vortex in it, yet a giant slide is visible. So this has to be before Vortex, 1986 or earlier.

Yes, pre '86 Look above the girls head at time stamp 2:01 That is the lift hill for The Bat. So '85 or earlier this video was made, or should I say filmed.

I really do miss the last hill on The Racer.

I'm sure Mr Allen rolled in his grave when they took that out. remember he "loved them wild"

I am quite sure the removal of that last hill would not have bothered him nearly as much as the new individually ratcheting lap bars, the seat dividers, and most of all, the high density urethane foam...

Gems. Thanks! Love the music; but I had to re-watch beast with "Wherever I may Roam" playing from my iTunes..

I've seen these videos on YouTube a few times. In regard to the original VHS... were they distributed to the media or sold at the park?

Yes.

a. In your heart you knew he would, and

b. Tis true...

Yes to media or yes to sold at the park? Or yes to both? :)

Never been able to find this on eBay or Amazon. Must be insanely rare.

BUMPING because Throwback Thursday! Also, does anyone have this VHS?

-MDMC, wearing his King Cobra shirt today!

EDIT: If there was a DVD of all the coasters nowadays, we'd have to include Mystic, Orion and Banshee!

Yes!  I have it somewhere.  I haven't had a VCR in years, so no idea where I put it. :-)
