Great pictures from KI's early days as well. But what is this picture doing in the mix? This is most definitely not KI, as guests didn't drive their own cars through WAH, but rode the monorail. Plus, the Mason area isn't that mountainous (look at the background). Other than that, thank you haussie for this look into the past!

What an awesome video. I really enjoyed seeing the construction of The Racer (a very under appreciated ride now a days), Eiffel Tower, International Street, and everything else. How amazing.

I was just thinking this. While I am perfectly happy with what Kings Island is, it must have been meant to be so much more. I noted the guy talking about the golf courses across the highway and mini golf at the campground as well as nature trails there. Does anyone want to elaborate on those for me? As far as I know, they didn't ever exist.

I'm not sure about a nature trail at the campground, but there was a nature trail in Rivertown at the far end (circa early and mid 1970s before The Beast). The entrance was at the end of the path bracketed by the individual canoes (where KCKC and TRTR later occupied) and the war canoes (where Beast resides currently). The trail curved around, went down the side of the hill to the creek that runs under the KIMVRR trestle, crossed over a small bridge and back up the hill on the other side. The trail going up the hill would be to the left of where the Diamondback's bottom of second hill is today. You could easily see the trail from the train when going over the trestle.

It was fantastic to see the Eiffel Tower and The Racer being built.I had no idea that HB was involved in the design of Enchanted Voyage.From the video it sounds like International Street was originally intented as an area unto itself rather than just a collection of stores you walk past to get to the rides and attractions.

The video quality should be a little better now.

Great video. I loved the way they taped one two or three bands around the trees to indicate which ones were to be saved. I wish a little more of that could be done with some of the more recent construction.
