World's First Amusement Park to Run on Wind Energy

Featured Replies

I'm not certain about how wind power works. I can imagine being on a roller coaster lift hill, for example, on an otherwise calm day when sudden, occasional strong breezes blow through. ;)

I'm sure there are capacitors or something like that to ensure smooth "flow" of power, I just haven't read up on it.

With as many windmills/turbines as there are in Denmark, this is the perfect place to experiment with this type of application.

Yeah and if they open up a new coaster they will not need to worry about any birds in flight hitting their guests.

Any establishment running on renewables will have a backup. Energy can be stored in batteries but these are not ideal and improving their capacity and ability to hold power over time is the key. It's like my Prius, when I have energy built up in the battery the electirc motor runs on that. If I'm accelerating or goin fast the gas engine kicks in. Even a mix of soalr and wind is not completely reliable and note they said that the goal is to run completely on renewables. That's the goal at a lot of places but currently most have back up connections to the electric grid.

I think this is an awesome move and I applaud them.
