First visit - First week of June

Featured Replies

Taking my family to KI for the first time the first week of June.... we will be in town June 3-6... and have plans to do a few other things while there..... hope to spend 1-1 1/2 days at KI.... can anyone give me an idea of visitor traffic during this time of year?

We are from a little further north and frequently go to Cedar Point.... love the rides, just looking for some time away from home!

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

First, welcome to the forums!

Absolutely the weekday. The weekends around this time are usually pretty well packed. If you can get to the park on the third, which is a Wednesday, or the fourth, you should be golden.

Kings Island is definitely a completely different experience from Cedar Point, it isn't better, nor is it worse. It's just different. I hope you have fun!

The first week of June is about the most laid back of the season until you get towards the end. iChase pointed out some great days to go. A day to a day and a half is plenty of time to enjoy all the rides and attractions Kings Island has to offer.

There was a really informative thread about the rides and when to expect long or short waits on them all a couple weeks ago. Definitely worth a read.

There used to be a website called whentoride.com. I guess it has been taken down since last time i was on there but it used to be really helpful when deciding what days to go. Stick to a weekday and make sure you dont miss Diamondback.

Thanks for the info.... I tell my wife that the Diamondback is the only reason for going.... so if we miss everything, we must ride it!!

^^Actually, I can sympathize with your situation...

Last summer I went to Canada's Wonderland for the first time to ride Behemoth, and before the trip I was doing all the re-con, etc., and I talked to a well-known CW fanboy and said I don't care what else I ride, but PLEASE tell me I can ride Behemoth at least 6 times?!

Flashforward to my visit...not only did I Behemoth 6 times, I rode it over 20! I probably got 6 rides in the first 2 hours or so there, plus got to easily ride everything else I wanted, including some bad capacity rides. Oh yeah, the park also closed at 8:00 pm that day!!

Stick to a weekday and you should be fine. The past two years I've KI nailed to a science about what to ride and when no matter how busy the day (as I have now with CP and GAdv), but obviously D-back will re-write everything, but in a good way!! :D

Btw, I've never been to that whentoride website before, but whenever people posted info or times from that site, I thought the info couldn't have been more wrong!! At least for the parks I frequent...

If you've mastered GAd during Fright Fest, I'd be most interested in your strategy. My strategy for GAd during Fright Fest is to go to Dollywood or sumthin.

^^Haha...no Fright Fest, and honestly, regarding GAdv...since I only utilize flash pass, I guess my approach is not one fits all! ;)
