Yes, and that certain ride in the Carolinas had to have an extensive overhaul this past off season that involved completely rebuilding sections of the ride.

Personally, I`d like to see Flight Decks track painted something other than the steel silver color that it is currently painted. And to be honest, that ride needs a paint job more than any other ride at Kings Island. The old red color is showing in many areas, and it is now light pink in color. Either blue or red track could match the Flight Deck sign they have at the entrance to the ride.

I`ll second the Interpreter`s comment. I certainly never said or agreed to the fact that Flight Deck won`t be around much longer.

Flight Deck is not a bad ride, and when compared to Iron Dragon at Cedar Point, Flight Deck wins because it is faster, taller and more forceful. Not to mention it doesn`t have the "rattling" that Iron Dragon has. Only thing working against Flight Deck is the long walk to arrive at the station.

Not only that, let's see how TOPGUN1993 reacts to this...

Somehow, I don't think he will be amused....in fact, I don't remember hardly anyone thinking Top Gun aka Flight Deck's days were seriously numbered....some speculated, but it was just that....speculation. I'd venture say that I can see Vortex leaving long before Flight Deck...

Oh, some day it will...nothing is forever...certainly not a steel coaster....you will probably see it removed, though I will probably be long gone from this earth before that happens....

Well, that's obvious. I'd just like to point out that I can't wait to take my Jr. Coaster rider on FD when I have a kiddie, and I'm almost certain it should still be there by then.

I went to Kings Island at least 50 times this summer, number of times I actually saw it running; (believe me, I checked to see every time!) 11... Maybe I just came on the wrong day... Not saying I don't enjoy this coaster, its just passing its expiration date; starting to stink.

Oh, for crying out loud. And this from a person with Chippewa and Idora in his user name. How old were they? How old is The Beast? How old is the Coney Island Cyclone? How old is Racer? How old is Mindbender at Six Flags Over Georgia? How old is The Matterhorn at Disneyland? And perhaps most relevant (and scary), How old is Big Bad Wolf?

1. You must have, Flight Deck is one of the most efficiant rides in the park, the only time I saw it closed was halfway through KICentral day and in the mornings in Fall because of the tempurature.

2. Flight Deck has an experation date? Excuse me, but I thought that was limited to foods, which cannot be revived year after year by excellent mantinence, and can be used more than once.

And when does Flight Deck not operate...except during Halloween Haunt...when its queue is used for some dance club type thingy? Nothing is wrong with your screen name...it indicates RESPECT for history and for things old....which you seem to indicate Flight Deck is (at 15???)/

Uh, where to begin. First of all, Arrow Dynamics is no longer around. However, S&S Power has the rights to all their old designs. They continue to supply the parks with Arrow related replacement parts.

Secondly, I find your statement about going to the park 50 times and finding Flight Deck closed all but 11 of those likely untrue. The only times that it was NOT open for sure was Friday nights for Halloween Haunt. Otherwise, all the days I was at the park it was open this year. Granted, it may have temporarily closed for small amounts of time during the day for protein spills or small mechanical problems, but as far as I know, that ride did not have the significant amount of down time that you claim it did.

Are you just looking to stir up trouble?

It wouldn't be surprizing if that's what he's trying to do, given that most of the argumental facts have been posted on here a billion times.

Uhh, most everyone here was trying as hard as they could to be Calm Cool and Collected. You just chose to take it personally.

Everyone else in this thread was rather calm and cool as well. We were just taking objection to your claim "most of us" when you mentioned the demise of Flight Deck. Remember what they say about the word assume !

I agree with you both. I was just amazed at the cognitive dissonance of respecting old amusement parks but not "old" amusement rides.
