SFMM Asks Workers Not To Wear Shorts On Muslim Day

Featured Replies

This could be very interesting to see the American reaction. Personally I have no problem with the Islamic, or any other, religion. To each his own. But I could see a lot of people having a big problem with an American theme park hosting an event for muslims. Hopefully this doesnt lead to terrible things.

If I worked there, I would ignor the ban and wear shorts. Will they serve beer and pork products that day?

I come from a German family. If I worked there and wore the pants and showed them proper respect, then ate a meal of pork and saurkraut while drinking a beer after I got done working, I would bet my bottom dollar that they would not show the respect for my German heritage that I showed them....

Diversity runs across all races and religions. To each his own-but I would wear the shorts as well. "when in Rome, do as the Romans do". This is America, and we should not have to change our ways to accomodate them. On the same token, would they change their ways if we went to their country and demanded them to dress like us? I don't think so. Personally, I find that request offensive.

But...this isn't friends having someone to dinner, this is a company doing business with a group that is paying for entertainment. And the employees, who work there, have been asked to dress differently on that one occasion. Since MM is in California, it is highly likely the employees do not have to if they don't want to...if it were Ohio and Cedar Fair asked you to not wear shorts on a given day and you chose to ignore that, there is a good chance you'd be seeking employment, as Cedar Fair might (depending on labor conditions and when in the season it was) decide to let you go wear what you want but on your own time forever more.
