September 27, 200817 yr Does anyone have footage of the 1979 beast when it first came out if you do could you post it
September 27, 200817 yr It was nice to see that video again. I would have enjoyed a ride on that machne bck then - that first turn after the first drop without the banking - wowzers! And those skid brakes made it so smooth. Wht did they change the trains? I don't remember.
September 27, 200817 yr It looked waay slower back then. Is that just me? Neat old trains also. Thanks for that video.
September 27, 200817 yr Well, technically, the trains the ride is running now are the original trains. However, the trains have been heavily modified over the years, including the removal of the fourth row of seats per car. This was done to reduce wear and tear on the tracks caused by the trains. Which is the same reason why you now see two bench PTC trains on newer coasters like the Legend as opposed to three bench trains.
September 27, 200817 yr On most coasters. A few, mostly smaller, coasters have been built in recent years that did include three bench PTC trains. One example is Timberhawk: Ride of Prey, by S & S Power, which has the three bench PTC trains. Note that GCII's Millennium Flyers are one bench trains!
September 27, 200817 yr Wow The Beast Was different back then! It barely even makes it to the last brake run! It's still the ride I love, though.
September 27, 200817 yr Author when did they add the tunnel Edit: Never mind the tunnel was added in 1980
September 30, 200817 yr I wish they would go back to the old buzz bars. Nothing like the feeling of flying out of your seat the whole ride.
September 30, 200817 yr And you heard wrong. Beast was and is about speed, forest, helices, length, speed, isolation, a mine train type experience on a wood coaster, and speed. It was never about airtime.
