At Cedar Point, A coaster connoisseur finds middle ground

Featured Replies

That was an alright article except for one erroneous statement. I believe that the author was taking some liberties to explain how some of Cedar Point`s rides are squeezed in when he said this, but it simply isn`t a true statement.

The solution has been to weave coaster tracks around existing rides so that the cars of, say, Corkscrew pass right under the Iron Dragon track, making rides even more dizzying — and terrifying.

Its still early on a Sunday morning, and I`m still recovering from a long stressful day at Coney (due primarily to the fact that we were severely understafffed)!

Not to mention that both of those coasters are fairly old. The author makes it sound like those are two very new attractions.

"Nausea grounded us after seven coasters in two hours."

Rookies.

"near the top of the 310-foot hill on Millennium Force, something happened to my sister. Staring up at the summit as we clink-clinked our way skyward, this once-fearless daredevil turned into a quaking puddle of nerves."

..THERE IS NO "CLINK-CLINK." It's an elevator cable.

GRRR.

I was waiting for someone to notice that! Not to mention that that hill, like the one on El Toro, is taken very, very quickly...

How about the same one over and over and over and over for hours...and not even one you particularly adore...

Terpy, been there, done that, and didn't even get the t-shirt!

Try 12 in 6 hours.

I've done:

- 25 rides in 14 hours at CP

- 6 rides back to back on Millennium Force for a total of 9 MF rides in one day, the day's total ride count was 19

- 5 rides back to back on Drop Tower for a total of 8 DT rides that day, the day's total ride count was 16

- 2 back to back rides on MF (1 in front seat) and a ride on Maverick, all between 9 and 10 am

RIDE WARRIORS UNITE! B)

^How awesome must it be to have CP as youre home park!?

It's not. I just make the very most of my trips there. I do wish I lived closer, I live an hour north of KI so it's about 3 hours to CP from where I sit. It's worth every second of the drive there, though.

My KI platinum pass gets me in to CP at 9 am so I always hit MF and Maverick first. Millie is always my first and last ride on every visit.

I had gone July 17 and 18. July 17 was ERT night for MF, but it broke down and they couldn't fix it, so they called the night and rescheduled.

It's ok though, I got in at 9 am the next morning and my MF was up and running again, and I only waited 10 minutes to ride.

That day, my friend that works there felt bad for me so he took a bunch of breaks and rode coasters with me, and at the end of the night he got me on last train so I'd feel better about not getting to go on ERT. Now I'm addicted to last train and I do it every time I go.

What I do is enter the queue around 9:55. That way when the queue closes at 10, I walk all the way to the back of the line so I get on the last train of the night. July 18 was the day I got 9 rides on MF, I looked at my watch after last train, and it was 11:10 pm. Dragster still had trains running with people on it too. It's an amazing thing to be on last train of the night on any coaster, but MF is the one for me.

^I know I was just talking as if "How cool would it be if it was" sorta thing.

Oh I see now.. sorry!

My friend that works there lives like 5 minutes away. He gets in trouble when he tries to ride with a name badge on, so after work he just changes his clothes and rides CP coasters almost every day.. I'm soo jealous. :(

Cedar Point is like heaven, all those glorious rides in one place.

Although of CP is heaven, then KI is home. B)
