The Brady Bunch to Return to Kings Island

The Beast utilizes magnetic trim breaks on its circuit. They cannot be "turned off" by the control panel as they are permanent magnets (as opposed to the electromagnets which are utilized to lock the gates on rides like Drop Tower and Delirium. The only way The Beast`s trims can be modified is if maintenance physically adds or removes the magnets from the ride.

Where the breaks always this way? Because I rode it once back in 1985 or 86 and on one run that day there were no breaks at all. And I believe this is before they banked some of the turns. It was actually quite scary at first especially going into the helix. However, after surviving we ran around to get on it again and the breaks were fixed. Girls were screaming in front of us and we told them if you think that's scary you should have been on it with us the last time.

No...they were not always that way...though there have never been breaks on The Beast...(as opposed, to say, Son of Beast which rather notoriously had breaks in July of 2006).

The magnetic braking was installed on Beast in recent years. Before that, it had skid brakes.
