June 23, 200818 yr At Least some rides will be saved. I wish I could say the same for 2 of my favs, *Cough*Villain and Double Loop*Cough*
June 23, 200818 yr Author Double Loop, an early Arrow coaster, was welded together on site, without the usual bolted connections. There was almost no way to save it...much less economically.
June 23, 200818 yr Author Bummer. So is the Big Dipper going to operate again, or is it not? First of all, in the spirit of my past replies when someone asks a question like that, "Yes, the Big Dipper is going to operate again, or it is not." More seriously, the buyer was subject to approval by Cedar Fair. That was to be done (or not done) by 5pm the next day after the ride auction. There has been no public word as to whether he was approved. He said at the auction that the buyer (he was operating for a buyer, who he said he would disclose publicly in a week) intended to re-erect the coaster, but not operate it....allowing it to stand as an observable museum piece, if you will.
June 23, 200818 yr ^ That will at least keep it safe for the near future. The bulldozer destroys all hope of it coming back. Think of people that get frozen when they die. They at least have a chance of coming back, if you get buried there is no hope, except maybe for a clone of yourself.
June 23, 200818 yr Author Remember that buyers at an auction can make any statement about what they intend to do, then do whatever they wish after that, unless an agreement to the contrary is reached with the seller....
