Both sides of Racer going forward

Featured Replies

I would guess they are turning it around more for insurance/liability issues rather than money, or cheapness.

Obviously, I don't know that for sure though.

Correct.

Also might be a possibility The Racer actually Races now? Nothing like some good high fivin on a racin coaster. Nothing better than when Gemini is running together and you can get some good high fives during the slow turns on the figure8

Like I said in my past post^ You will only probly see them race on weekends or crowed days...Maybe not even on crowed days! If anything they are turning around the backwards too save money. So on slow days they can shut down one side and keep other side going. Even on crowed days they will probly open both sides, but may not race them! Their goal is to load the train, check riders safety, and send them on their way and load the next train.

We are all aware of your previous posts, and myself, Woofer, and Interpreter had been saying similar things for quite some time.

The concept of turning The Racer around, does not really bother me at all. For one, at least the ride is still standing. And for two, it will, in an emotional way, be like seeing Kings Island history, and living it.

Kudos marl. Did anyone think maybe they just wanted to just for old time sake? Maybe it has nothing to do with cost.

I think it would be really cool if they have one train on each side running backwards, that way you can have Two backwards racing, then two forwards. And if they close one side for less cowded days you would just wait and see if you will end up going backwards of forwards! I think that this would solve the problem of closing one side to save money AND it would satisfy the people who like backwards better.

That would be cool but then you would have 50 people standing up at the gate saying go ahead I am waiting for the next train. Mayhem I say Mayhem!..lol

Also, given how the braking system works and where it is located on each train, quite impossible without a total reworking of the braking system on both the tracks and the trains....and that almost certainly won't be happening.

From Screamscape:

News - (3/25/08) I’m not sure now true this is, but from what one reader tells us The Racer’s trains will be labeled as “Racer North” and “Racer South” for the 2008 season.

Well Screamscape seems to be turning up quite the tid bits on Kings Island Lately.

^ I wonder what the reasoning is for that? If it is true.

if they are both going forward it is most likely because they were labled this when they both went forward

Actually when they both went forward they were labeled Red Racer and Blue Racer in promotional books and maps, they have been referred to by park employees as Racer South (Backwards) and Racer North (forwards) since created.

my bad sorry i wasn't born yet.

Old is a state of mind....one that I refuse to participate in.... B)

Let's all just face it, if we remember the Red and Blue Racers and both sides gong forward, were up there....But at least I can say (for a few more months) that I'm not 40 yet...

I'm editing this: My 9 year old just read this post and asked if I was posting in "Rumors"........

I believe I am the oldest here...lol

Just keep on believin' that.....

:)

Are you a robot?

It's funny that you mention those names, because I was reading the same thing about the red/blue names. Will we see them return in April? Who knows! :P

Well first they would actually have to put all the same colored trains on the same track. Last year each side sported one red and one blue train.

In some old photos or at least some from about 1994 and before it actually says Red Racer and Blue Racer on the front of the trains.

First of all, I've got donniejb beat by a few years.

Secondly, I have 8mm movies taken by myself on the right side of The Racer in 1975. I have them transfered to VHS but I don't know how to get them online. They're great movies - other rides too! Someone let me know how to do this.

If they are renameing them to Racer north and Racer south , I can see racer south staying backwards.

I'm a little bit disappointed that The Racer is going to switched around to both trains going forward. I loved the backwards train because you can't see where you are going. Why are they doing this because of the G trains?? Insurance?? Cost??
