Enclosed Tube Question

Featured Replies

  • 1 month later...
I was just wondering if a large person has ever gotten stuck in one of PKI's enclosed tubes?

heh...a lot of people wonder this question. I've been asked many times.

First, in the mornings...a maintenace guy must WALK up the tube to inspect the fiber glass for scratches and cuts...usually they pick the small young guy to do this..you don't really walk standing up...but it is an easy walk/crawl up.

Second, I don't think I've seen many people that large..walk up 5-8 flights of stairs.

Third, you'd have a buttload of lifeguards, maintenance, EMT's, Security, Deputies, managers, hell..everyone laughing their butts off.

twice this season people got stuck in the blue tubs. both times people were sent and hit the people in the tube. it did happen

LMAO..now that is funny...I worked 8 days on...1 day off...and I'm the biggest gossiper there...never heard anyone get stuck in a tube...and why would we 'hit' the guest in the tubes?

Now granted...I had to walk down some slides and 'push' people along that were stuck due to sticky bathing suits...nothing to do with being fat.

they were both children. the life guard at the bottom sent the next guest down and the guest hit the child stuck in the tube. in one instance the other guest sent down was the kids dad.

Oh that instance,

The kid wasn't stuck...just very slow going down...yes..that was ugly. That was on Twist and I can't say anything about that. My use of 'stuck' was in reference to fat people who are too big to go down. Some little kids just don't weigh enough to get up speed to make it all the wy out the bottom of the tube.

As far as the son with the dad following..I believe he just left on his on before the lifeguard said it was time to go....that happens all the time..especially with kids/parents...they want to go down together..and if you don't physically block them sometimes..they will.

I will check tomorrow..but I think the changes have started on Kookaburra Bay...ripping out all that pretty 'fishcrete' that was so slippery and laying something new down...plus redesigning Kookaburra Bay so it is more lifeguard friendly.

Also, we made changes to Taz the final week to slow down people entering the funnel...don't think it really made a difference...I think you'll see more weight enforcement next year.
