August 6, 200719 yr Drop Zone got stuck at the top for almost 20 min on august 1. I know its not very important but I just felt like telling people about it.
August 6, 200719 yr That is the exact reason why I have only ridden Drop Zone once. If we were stuck I seriously would have a heart attack from the anxiety of not knowing when we were going to drop.
August 6, 200719 yr Me and gnarkiller where watching it be held up there for a long time, then they where droped very slowly, then when the where ten feet above the ground they droped. Once they where testing it the brakes almost didn't work and it was closed for an hour. We saw people inspecting the ride.
August 6, 200719 yr Author They got dropped slowly and when it got close to the bottom it dropped and the breaks barely stopped it.
August 6, 200719 yr I also noticed that on Friday it stayed up much longer than it was supposed to, almost a min. deb
August 6, 200719 yr I see two more people just made the idiot list.... lol Good to see you on here again Sparky

We saw people inspecting the ride. lol, brakes almost didn't work I think magntics work 24/7 lol. Please tell us what else happen? Did hydraulic fuiled go everywhere (most people should know what im talking about, "hydraulic fuiled story")
August 6, 200719 yr What's wrong with that statement? Magnetic brakes can't fail... just like friction brakes can't fail. Right, Magnum XL-200? Right, Beast? I don't know what story that is. What is fuiled?
August 6, 200719 yr No you're both wrong, they just replaced drop zones breaks with fin brakes similar to the coasters...
August 6, 200719 yr No you're both wrong, they just replaced drop zones breaks with fin brakes similar to the coasters... im sueing them! becuase I can't fit in the seats anymore! What else they gona change?

What else they gona change? and we will sue you.... for not knowing how to spell What do seats have to do with fin brakes?

August 6, 200719 yr It has been stuck at the top before for more then 20 minutes its happened before this was about 2 years ago maybe and no joke about it people were on it too! They had to lower them slowly and it was crazy.
August 6, 200719 yr For the record, the thing got stuck on the top on its very own media day. And it was for longer than 20 minutes. I was actually a wee bit perturbed I was NOT on that cycle. But I don't think it had anything to do with the braking. In fact, I know it didn't. So, yes, it can get stuck at the top. But I doubt that braking had anything to do with it.
August 7, 200719 yr They recently removed the brakes on Drop Zone, the air cushion it falls onto stops the ride. The magnets depolarized themselves. /sarcasm
August 7, 200719 yr I got stuck up at the top back in 1999, during a day they were fliming the know it all shows in the Paramount Theatre.
August 7, 200719 yr I know what happened. Quite simple actually: When the brakes almost failed, there was a depolarization of the upper atmosphere, causing the core of the Earth to change its axial spinning by 15 degrees, therefor reversing the effect of magnets for approx .0005 seconds. During this time, Drop Zone was 10 feet of the ground and dropping. See? All makes sense.
August 7, 200719 yr Actually, thats an old theory on how the Earth CAN lose its magnetic field. If the core switches direction of rotation, or stops, the Earth will lose its atmosphere. Something like that.
August 7, 200719 yr This doesn't seem that complicated. Drop Towers tend to be less complex than coasters (at least, the non S&S ones). Why so much discussion of the brakes? Isn't it the small carriage that tows the car to the top and lets go? If it didn't let go like it should have...what other option is there but to tell it to come back down still attached to the car? I'm sure it's complicated with the safety system and all, but wouldn't that be like an e-stop?
