SeaWorld's Manta -- NOW OPEN
Indeed they do and its even MORE effective on the ride. I hadn't been able to ride the right side of the train as when we were riding during employee rides the water wasn't there, so I kept riding left side for the rockwork :-) Rode the right side of the train today, HOLY cow it looks like you are literally just inches from the water during the splashdown....and you DO get wet during the splashdown on that side of the train. The entire splash area is also very engaging for guests. Thats the thing I dont' understand about Diamondbacks splash down....its perhaps the most pointless one created as it does nothing to intereact with guests and I'm sure you barely notice it on the ride itself.....cause you don't notice it on Sheikra or Griffon. Hmmmmm, correct me if I am wrong, but right there you said they indeed do touch the water. I was just replying to the answer you told someone else in this topic.

Actually the trains do not touch the water, and your pictures and the video posted prove it is an articial splash. Look back at the one picture that shows just the calm water and you can see the curved line just under the surface, then look at the picture right after that and you can see the jets spraying up out of the water as the coaster passes, and clearly nothing but air between the water and coaster. I think it is amazing that they did that with just synching some water jets to the exact timing of the coaster going by, goes into the amount of detail they put into that ride. And I agree on Diamondbacks splashdown being pointless besides for the visual end of it, cool to watch yes, but would have been better for the people who want to get wet and watch if they would of had a splashzone set up like Sheikra does.

Diamondback First Thoughts and Impressions?!
Did they not put seats in just for larger people like they do on some of their coasters? If not thats just a darn shame that they didn't put in the extra effort to accommadate everyone.

Diamondback First Thoughts and Impressions?!
I agree with you, and why i'm in no hurry to get up there and ride it. I'm sure it will be fun, but it is nothing special to me.

Auction winners start getting their rides at 8 a.m....but I am surprised that they would do an ERT on that day, cause it seems like with the auction, opening day, and all, that the media would be involved and management and such and that would take more than an hour.....just my thoughts.

Kings Island's History
I remember climbing all those d@mn stairs to ride the screamin demon over and over. Just thought that was the coolest ride ever as a kid. Being launched into that drop into the loop and thinking I would just fly out of the seat. Remember staring at The Bat in awe and wondering why I never saw it run. Then coming back to find it gone and this big board up advertising the plans for Vortex. Just stared at the layout, thinking oh hell yes, this will be the greatest thing ever!!

Holiday World Pilgrims Plunge Boat
Excellent post, and that sentence sums up the way I feel about Holiday World as well (although I personally love the Voyage). I had a good time at the place, particularly on the woodies, but I just felt as though the park was a little on the random side when it came to the way it was put together. Agreed on the randomness of the park...can definately tell when they started to grow they didn't put alot of thought into how big they wanted to be in the future so they could have mapped out accordingly, and instead ended up just throwing stuff into vacant holes and land and running paths to wherever instead of a nice flow. Maybe someday when they grow enough they can make things flow together, but I really doubt it with the way it is going. Regardless, it still has some decent rides and a pretty nice waterpark.

I would say we will know more on that depending on how much longer they wait....and if they plan on having it growing by opening day. Time will tell very soon.

Well the splashdown is drained...maybe since they are down to less than a month they are going to get going on finalizing the landscaping in that area...

Only thing i could see happening is the paint fading faster, but you would only really notice that when it is dry, and most of us would never see it dry anyways since while it is running that area will be constantly wet! Which makes me wonder about the landscaping, mainly the grass, with the splash being as big as it is and the wind and breezes, the area around the pool is going to be extremely muddy and difficult to maintain, i would think anyways.

But in addition to it also serving as a breaking mechanism, correct?? With the weight and speed of the trains moving through that area, the water scoops are going to have minmal affect on slowing down the trains. When you are riding it, you will probably never any notice it. That one section will last one to two seconds and then you will be into the brake run so.
