  1. We was told at Coaster Mania there was going to be something on the Travel Channel this week. I don't know if this was it or not, I didn't hear what all was said.
  2. Think about what it cost to send them cards to every pass holder that already has one. I would think they could find better things to do with that money.
  3. The best part was when Dick asked what day in November was Halloween.
  4. Terminator Salvation at SFMM is also built to withstand earthquakes but I wouldn't consider it an engineering marvel. SOB took existing technology to a new level much the same way KK and TTD were when they opened which IMO they are. You wouldn't consider Terminator Salvation and Fireball a engineering "marvel"? I sure would. I don't know of any other wooden coasters that can withstand strong earthquakes. The last wooden coaster I would ride after a earthquake would be Son of Beast. It is true that Son of Beast, Top thrill dragster, and Kingda ka set a new level but I wouldn't put them on my reliable list either. GhostRider was built to withstand earthquakes.
  5. It has been said that they was short on funding when it was being built. It could have been the engineering or the lack of money that caused the engineering problems. The original builder said it wasn't going to work because of the shortcuts they was taking and look what happened. There was a story about it on the wcpo site for years that I can't find anymore.
  6. Why is it closed if there is no problem? If having it closed don't give you a clue just wait till removal for your proof.
  7. How do you know if there has been an accident or not?
  8. 1. Yes, which is why I'm saying that they shouldn't spend it in the first place. 2. Completely? Noooooo... When was the last time SoB was retracked completely? A little late if the accident already happened? Coasters can shut off before there is an accident Like what happened with SOB?
  9. Cars do shut themselves down. Ford uses a fuel cutoff switch if you have a accident.
  10. I don't think one is better than the other. It's just that KD seems better because you don't get to go everyday like KI.
  11. I bought six Platinum Passes and they better have the gate open when I get there. I was thinking about not buying at all the last two years and a getting some attitude will end my Platinum Pass buying.
  12. This is what I was talking about in the other thread about when to go. There is no way I would go on opening day thinking I was going to have a good time. Things are always better on the second weekend. We always go to KI on opening but I know what to expect so as to not be disappointed. There was no way I was going to Carowinds or KD opening day because of the exact things that have been posted over the last weekend. I have been there and done it.
  13. Anyone know where info on Kings Dominion Hurlfest can be found? All I have seen is that it's on June 19 or 20.
  14. When I have gone the first and second weekend I have had a better experience on the second weekend. Back when they had a season pass preview night it was really bad.
  15. The room I was in had mold in the tile grout. I think I will be in one worse. I got rooms for CoasterMania at the roach motel. I will probably need a six pack of bug bombs and some plastic sheeting for the bed.
  16. There was a van that would take you to and from the park back when I went there. I would bet that van has been parked since Cedar Fair has been in the drivers seat.
  17. I think the last time I stayed there was 2003 and it was nothing special. The only thing going for it is how close it is to the park.
  18. The economic environment has changed from what it was years ago at Geauga Lake. That is why it wouldn't have made a difference who owned it. The former owners knew what was coming and got out when the getting was good. If they could have moved Geauga Lake to where all the jobs went it would still be open.
  19. I liked to go once a year in the past. After a disappointing trip to Phantom Fright Nights 2 or 3 years ago I haven't been back. I think one trip a year to Kennywood is all you need and anymore will ruin it for you.
  20. http://www.floridatoday.com/article/20100224/BREAKINGNEWS/100224016/1086/rss07
  21. There was trading going on by insiders that had information that CF wasn't telling the public. A year ago they was saying all was well.
  22. Part of your problem is that you need to choose a diet. You said low-fat, low-calorie and low-carb and the three don't work together. If you going with low-carb you will need the fat. There also is no weight loss supplement that works so I wouldn't believe what I hear from a weight loss supplement commercial.
  23. When I am down there I stay in Polk City and it didn't seem too bad to get to Cypress Gardens. I used to stay at Davenport and wasn't bad from there. It will be a wait and see thing on if it's going to work. If I remember correctly the last owner bought it for 16 million and couldn't make it. Now there are looking at investing 150 million. I think some of the problem was that there was nothing there to get anyone to go. If there was a Millennium Force or Diamondback there it would have had a better chance. There was enough money put into that park it could have had a nice coaster.
  24. I don't think the location obstacle is as big as it has been made out to be. It to me seems densely populated around Cypress Gardens and they are looking for 2 million in attendance in a year round operation.
