  1. PointBuzz is normaly a day late and a dollar short, because they will not even allow specualtion on something regarding any of the Cedar Fair parks because of their relation with the company. Hence when ScreamScape broke the Maverick story with pictures of the artwork, Pointbuzz pulled the forum and banned the pics. Im not really a fan of Pointbuzz because they do not allow as much free speculation and discussion about the park or parks. Unlike PKIC, which has a great relationship with the park and always has exclusives. Here we are allowed to discuss speculation and rumors that tend to be true. If the tables were turned Pointbuzz would have pulled the forums discussing the removal of the SoB loop and also X-Flight coming. So just becareful what you read on Pointbuzz because a lot of it has been screened, thats why the community there is nowhere near like PKICs
  2. This just brings excitement, because Cedar Fair is showing that they are obviously committed to improving the former Paramount Parks. Kings Dominion is getting a huge investment almost on par with Cedar Point and Kings Island is also up there. 2 Paramount parks in the top 3 of parks receiving money from Cedar Fair. I think this is a great sign of things to come for all parks within Cedar Fair. I would look for the $10 million to go towards relocation of X-Flight, painting and theming of X-Flight. Paint, landscaping, and general maintence throughout the park and also atleast 1 new resturant addition in the park. I think 2007 is going to be one of the best years KI has had in a long time and I think the park will look better than it has in a long time. Also Glenpc dont be affraid to post around here, we are all pretty nice. If you keep making posts like your previous other PKIC members will respect you because atleast you can support your opinion. Just one thing though, dont be skeptical of Cedar Fair, they are a tremendous company and they will be comitted to Kings Island and making it one of the best parks in their chain.
  3. When a Tree falls in the woods and nobody is around does it make a sound? Which came first the Chicken or the Egg? Why do they have the same Avatar? These are questions that the worlds greatest philosophers have tried to answer, but have been unable.
  4. Just some quick notes. X-Flight is coming to KI, very logical. For a company that is looking to cut costs and save money this makes perfect sense. Smaller footprint and less maintence costs at GL, which is struggling to reestablish itselt in the Cleveland market. Logistically this is going to be easy transportation from GL to KI and also fairly inexspensive for moving a coaster from one park to another. Will help boost attendance at KI which has not had a major thrilling attraction in a few years, this is not for famlies. KI is the #2 park under Cedar Fair, Cedar Point is still the flagship and always will be. Also what better way to help 2 parks and one with a major addition without spending a lot of money compared to building a new coaster from the ground up. Concerning the clearing of land. You can always make land flat with grading, so Im sure this piece of land will be as flat as the parking lot in which X-Flight orginally flew. Also it is easier to remove all trees, build the ride, and plant new trees. For a big coaster X-Flight has a pretty compact layout which would make it more dificult to build around trees, unlike a coaster like The Beast which is very spread out. Hold On Tight and Get Ready For X-Flight Landing in 2007 at Kings Island

I was not Offended in any way shape or form by Holiday Horror, but I thought it was a worthless attraction that added nothing to FearFest. I saw it more as people were bitter about WinterFest being cancled so they used some props and tried to twist it. It was a meet and greet and nothing more, entertainment level was 0 for me and for the roughly 12 other people that experienced Holiday Horror and Fear Fest with me. People say that I didnt get it, but I also say there was nothing to get. Great I can go talk to drunk Santa or his crazy elfs. Yeah thats fun and entertaining. Now if they would have made Holiday Horror an actual attraction or scare zone, with those same characters and more props I think it would have been very popular and also twisted. But instead Holiday Horror turned out like a half assed inside joke.
  6. I will still love to see a S&S Screamin Squirel installed at Kings Island. Small footprint and still fits the family demographic. Who wouldnt want to stand around and watch that slowly flip over all day. Very cool.
  7. Why dont you smash this rumor??? Or any other, Im waiting? Seriously though from what I have seen with the quick deconstruction of X-Flight at GL I would say that it could be on a truck and headed down 71 by the end of January.
  8. Well I was calling for the Area 51 themed area as soon as the X-Flight rumors started. Glad to see other people feel the same way. Get some used military hardware, a couple Duece an a halfs and some perimiter security fences and youve got a pretty decent themed area. Some fresh paint, camo netting, a few food stands, and your new area is ready to go. I think you could widden the path that currently goes under Racer with some more Steel Trusses, put up a guard tower as you enter the area and its good to go. With high enough fences and trees you would never see the maintence buildings.
  9. Yeah good thing they didnt go with the early intamin drop machines, those things are a capacity nightmare and take awhile to cycle. Glad KI built the Gyro Drop
  10. I am personally glad the put Drop Zone in the front of the park. Gives the skyline a more agressive look, instead of being at the back of the park.

What kind of work was being done on the first hill? Where they on the track on the support structure itself. Also please eloborate on how you know its going to be awhile before they are complete. Was part of the track missing or the structure? Just wanting some details.
  12. The entire area consisting of the never open food stand, the crappy euro bungee, and the laser tag building that just sits there looking worse and worse every year, refurbished. Seriously that part of Coney Mall is dead. A nice ride like a SkySwatter, Topple Tower, Jump 2 or a Screaming Squirle would go great there and would really improve that end of Coney Mall also.
  13. Seriously probably nothing more unnerving than ridding a steel multi looper when it sheds a wheel. Bet that makes a heck of a sound and racked, with a real nice thud. I always thought it would be horrible to be stuck upside down partially through an inversion just hanging in your restraints. Thats one thing I have never experienced while ridding a coaster

A ride that truly lives up to its name... Well guess you could call it flying nuts and bolts, but I dont think that would sell to well. Just doesnt have the same pizaz as Chaos...

Well I personally converted my copy to Power Point so I can give an impromtu lecture on the various structural failures of SoB to any of the unsuspecting company that comes to the house this holiday seasson. Along with the popcicle stick mockups I have created of the broken bents, it is a pretty enjoyable presentation. Well about as enjoyable as an engineering presentation on failed roller coaster structures can be. Ill be here all week folks

You know its bad when the Chaos report is almost 3 times the size of the Son of Beast report. Still are failing fastners and bolts really that big of a deal? Still its a fun ride and the possible death or bodily injury makes it even more thrilling... Long Day at Work, Can Everyone Notice???
  17. ^ ^ Well Almost? Is something missing??? Just one of those days folks
  18. RailRider replied to PKIVortex's topic in Kings Island
Yes its a given they are selling the Chaos rides to, but still as a park goer I am a fan of the ride itself. Wouldnt have minded seeing one come to KI instead of being sold. Interpreter doing what he does best, stating the obvious with sarcasim.
  19. This is great news for Cedar Fair and Kings Island. This will also be looked upon favorable by investors because it will show stability within a company that has just doubled in size. Just think what Cedar Fairs stock would have done if you had the acquisition go throught and then 12 months or so later you have Kinzel retiring from the company. Thats a lot of change real fast and would have been dificult for Cedar Fair to overcome all of those negative. This will keep them in a favorable position on WallStreet and should have more investors willing to buy more Cedar Fair stock which is always a good thing.
  20. RailRider replied to PKIVortex's topic in Kings Island
I wouldnt mind one of the Chaos rides that Cedar Fair is selling come to KI and possibly back with FoF and XF. They are an older flat, but quite fun and are a great visual for guests to sit and watch. $125K for Chaos or $125K for Superman the Escape. Anyone wana pool some money and see what we can do???
  21. The wheels are either nylon or vinyl. Im surprised there hasnt been more work done in developing stronger and more durable wheels. Especially with the speeds some of the newer coasters have acheived. I would think paying a little more for wheels upfront and having them last longer would be more economical than having cheaper wheels that you replace more often.

Heres a few questions that Im sure someone can answer. Am I correct in saying Flight of Fear has a dedicated electrical line/supply going to the ride? Would it be possible to tie in to this source for the power needed for X-Flight? If this is a possibility it would seem like this would cut down a lot of work trenching, laying condiut, and running new lines, because this would be a much closer distance than needing to run lines. Just some thoughts, because look at how much work Cedar Point has put in to Maverick and running its new lines, that aint cheap. Then again Maverick has a bit larger appetite for electricity than what X-Flight does.

^ ^ Now the real test to see if you are a PKI addict. Did you print the report in color so you could see the excelent pictures of the damage in true life or did you print in black in white to save your ink???
  24. Also if properly maintained an issue with the wheels should be noticed before one either disentagrates or just falls off. Just stating the obvious.
  25. RailRider replied to PKIVortex's topic in Kings Island
I think it is very feasible to dismantle and reassemble X-Flight in just a few months. I would look for it to be ready for opperations around the same time IJ:ST was opperating full time. After all this coaster has been assembled once, so the 2nd time should be pretty easy because theoretically all the bugs have been worked out. Seems doable to me.
