Cedar Point seems to put a decant show in their theater at the front of the park. An in house created show that runs all season would be great. They proved they can do it with PT Encore.

Now KI should get one in the old Vortex spot. A Kenton’s Cove Keelboat Canal revival!

It looks terrible this year. Few things are aligned, few are at anywhere close to the same level, some don’t work at all. There doesn’t seem to be any slow change from pattern to pattern, just everything blasting water all the time at different angles. I’ve not seen the night show yet, but it can’t get much better. They used wireless enabled valves that control each jet, but the water pressure seems to be full all the time, so if they loose the signal (as this stuff like LED lighting and wireless tech often does, they go rogue. The old fountains were I believe more controlled at the pump room with mechanical valves controlling the flow to each “zone” like side jets, morning glory jets, fan jets on the bowls etc. It wasn’t as “gimmicky”, but it sure seemed to work. Can you tell I still hate this “new” fountain?!

Honestly either of the park-produced music reviews currently running would be more engaging and a better use of the space. The show from festhaus definitely deserves a better venue. Maybe then something could run the whole summer season.

They couldn’t keep flickering, swinging lamps working. Don’t dream too big.

I’ve suggested in the past a major Reno of Showplace with a new, semi permanent roof that would be more rain proof and possibly add heaters for haunt/winterfest use. Eliminate the steep raked seating (and ice gears for winter) by instead doing terraced seating with a larger area at the front for a dance floor if you do more music revues, some elevated seating areas and then table seating at the back as a dining and show setting (but only have it open around show times)

The photo included park staff (and not even all that are involved in some way) and yes, it can be surprising how much it takes to put on a show behind the scenes.

Hollywood Hits and Country Crossroads have been good shows for the Festhaus to host, there's just a few things about the venue as it currently exists that makes them harder to enjoy. I would much rather have seen both of them go into the International Showplace. IMO the Kings Island Theater definitely needs a mini Broadway-style show in it for most of the regular season. The park can host smaller shows in it for the rest of the year, but to have all of that stage space and only use the front portions is kind of abysmal. The real solution would be to build another good capacity indoor theater somewhere in the park — Six Flags won't do that though. Either Kings Island or Brad Ross (I can't remember who) shared a photo of all the people who help make the show happen. I'm not sure if it included park staff or if they were all touring with BR, but it was shocking to see how many people it takes to put on this "small" magic show.

I predict it will be at least 2039 before The Royal Fountain will be renovated again. This version will be 20 years old then. Who knows...by that time, Kings Island might just be a virtual reality that you subscribe to on different tiers from your home. The land will have been turned into a giant data center with Buckee's for the brave souls who venture out of their homes.

Since the person who thought it would be a good idea to mess with the fountain in the first place is no longer employed by KI or Six Flags, I think the park should consider changing the fountains back to how they were with new pedestials since the old ones are used in Orion's queue.

During my quick visit today I noticed that the Cargo Loco sign appears to have been recently repainted! Last year it was peeling really badly.
