  1. the red things to the right of tht building? Do you know what people are talking about when they say footings? This is what everyone is talking about: Keyword: Kings Island
  2. Because unlike you there are people who actually have good memories of it.
  3. I am guessing that when most people say that they would like a piece of a ride it is just like Goodyellowkorn...just a minute little piece as a keepsake. Just one timber of Son of Beast cut into small chunks would be MORE than enough to "appease" the fan boys...I consider that cheap goodwill. There are some people on this site who appear to be fairly level-headed individuals who brag they they have a piece of a ride on their computer tables that they are using as a paper weight...is that so bad? To each their own, everyone appreciates different things in life...which is what makes the world an interesting place.

"Come be a kid again"...a great slogan! I have to say, as much as I love Scooby...this is not his finest hour...appearance wise that is. (His feet are really bad.) Only in the 70's could you see dresses like the entertainers are wearing! "...you are whisked through the make believe lands of our Enchanted Voyage," Have a good weekend!
  5. Yeah, while channel surfing, I have seen many sentimental people on Hoarders.
  6. Spare parts and scrap metal that save and generate cash > Appeasing fan boys. First off, why should everything come down to a bottom line? Secondly, it is hard to define where that bottom line actually is. Who is to say that the park would not make more in the end from the goodwill of appeasing fan boys than selling something for scrap metal prices? A happy "fan boy" is probably going to be spending even more money at the park because they feel they have a special bond to it. Over the years in the record store where I work we have received TONS of amazing promotional posters and items that we could have sold for big money...and I did turn down some nice offers...but we would always just give them away, by doing that we had loyal customers. ( We are the last standing record store in our town...we outlasted 6 other stores.) Here is a nice item that the park gave away to some of it's employees back in 1989: I have a feeling that in today's world this would never happen because of that almighty "bottom line" mentality...the park would be handing out printed certificates.

If you do get the job, refrain from posting on here often.
  8. My girlfriend's father was kind enough to let me borrow these images he shot at the park in August of 1974. They were still in their original processing package, negatives and all. I'm thinking about going to the park this summer and shooting the same angles to show what the park looks like now. Kings Island is still world class, but there's something about this time in the park's history that really screams... I don't know how to describe it. I just don't get the same feeling from these photos when I visit. Not that I was alive in 1974 or anything, but the park just seemed so much more different. Standbyme has been posting some excellent brouchure's and it seems the attitude was different back then. Kings Island was a "resort" destination. Anyways, to check out the rest of the photos, head to my website: http://queencitydiscovery.blogspot.com/2012/02/kings-island-august-1974.html

Haha, I could only imagine interviewing with you.
  10. Nice, I will have to get that on the calendar and start collecting money! I am hoping for a fun Coasting for Kids event as well. I hope we can get a lot of KIC'ers and get some video of some of the songs and dances we did! Here is my video from last year!
  11. I have good memories of my first car ('88 Mercury Topaz- which, thinking back, had numerous similarities to SoB). It doesn't mean I wanted to keep parts from it.
  12. I think some congratulations is in order. If you would have asked me 3 years ago if SOB would outlive Tomb Raider, I would have definitely said "no".
  13. Photo #52 - I found out like last month that one of my teachers was Supervisor at King Cobra.
  14. If I could, I would have Diamondback's seats in my living room. So comfy.
  15. Yeah, Diamondback moves riders through the line very fast. It's one of the highest capacity rides in the park. A full queue with all switchbacks filled is only about 45 minutes, maybe an hour, if they don't get overrun with Fast Lane users.
  16. From what I heard, Flight of Fear is also being repainted. Here's a panoramic thumbnail picture: █████ I also heard that the anniversary of Vortex will be celebrated by installing a gold link in the lift chain. Not verified.
  17. I hope to ride it again as well. If not, I'd like to see another record breaker of some kind (and not one that gets owned by another coaster in the same year (DB vs. 305)) ... Ok. As promised. Last one, folks: (No sons of beasts were harmed in the making of any of these videos.)
  18. Cedarpoint has 3 car rides or something (we need one of these)... there is some good changes, the good the bad and then the ugly , at Kings Island..... Wow keep up the great work.
  19. This is great! Thanks for sharing!
  20. Thanks for doing this Standbyme. This is has quickly become my favorite topic on the board.
